Can I add heated seats to a NON heated seat i30

Hi

I just bought a 1996 i30 and it doesn't come with heated seats. Is it possible to add heated seats to the car? What would I have to do to make the heated seats work?

There are heated seat kits available. Any upholstery shop, and many audio shops offer installation now. Some of the kits on the market are intended for DIY, as several people on this board have done it themselves.

Kits usually include heating elements, switches, new hog rings, other assorted hardware. A brand of kit that comes to mind is... Duetto..?

Thanks for the info MetaOrbit. I am going to check that out. Do you have any idea roughly what the prices are for some of these kits and do they work well?

You might want to check out a junkyard. Maybe they have a set of heated seats for you. This way you dont have to rip your seat apart.

All you'll need to hook up the seats is a fused 12v supply.

I am going to buy new seats anyway because the seats are not really in that of condition, once I have the heated seats what else would I have to buy to make them work? Also do the seats become really warm or just lighty warm?

I BELIEVE that all I30s with power seats are pre-wired for the seat heater 12V+ line, but I am not positive. If I had more time, I woudl tell you what lines my car has and you could see if your car has them, btu it will be the beginning of next week before I can do that.

Either way, with stock heated seats from a junk yard you will still need switches and the seats themselves.

If they are NOT pre-wired, getting a 12V+ fused line is cake.
