Strut/Springs, ride quality-opinions please
If you drove my car, you'd know that the struts are shot, you can feel too many bumps and the road way too much for this luxo car. Anyway, I am planning on doin the strut/spring/rim combo at the sametime. I am so concerned with the ride quality. I dont care for the choppiness a lowerd civic will give you (had one when i was 16). Yes, i read the FAQ about springs, and it told me quite a bit. i just want to know some I-guyz opinions, maybe some recommendations on type of spring/strut combo to provide the best ride quality. It already handles kick-*** with the shopt-tokikos, so im mainly concerend about goin down 1.5" or so, while maintaining a pleasant ride. comments...
I did the Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable struts with CE 1.5 inch lowering springs. I have the fronts set at 3 and the rears set at 4, which helps correct the understeer that our cars suffer. Eventhough the ride is stiffer now, the new bushings, seats, and bearings make the ride absolutly wonderful. It is so absorbant and smooth now. It drives like a brand new car. Plus, I love the new ride hight. It closes that ugly @ss wheel gap and the car sits like an Acura now, instead of some Subaru wagon....
I have Intrax springs with KYB AGX front and Tokico Illumina rears. I like the look (a lot) and the handling, but with all of the construction in my area, it is a bit rough. I also had H&Rs, which rode much like stock but did not look much lower.
BTW, if you want to buy a set of springs for cheap, I am selling the intrax for $110 shipped.
