What kind of rotors to buy?
While my experience on this forum is limited, I think you may find more info in the 4th Gen forum. Otherwise there's a lot of info on the web. Just do a google search.
Many sites and self proclaimed experts conflict as to the benefits of slotted, drilled, or any combo vs blanks.
Not a lot of info on dimpled though, other than whatever benefits drilled rotors provide should be the same with dimpled without as much risk of cracking since the hole doesn't go all the way through the rotor.
Basically if you don't care about the looks of the rotors and you do normal daily use, blanks should be fine for you.
Brembo is popular and the was a GD recently. It might still be going on.

I just replaced all 4 rotors about 2 months ago. I just went with the regular ones from the auto store. I am not sure if you are more into racing or not, but I am just a daily driver that likes to be able to stop. lol
I have not had any problems with mine yet and everything seems to be fine. They were so simple to replace as well.
If I can help, please contact me.

Cross drilled/slotted are mainly for looks. Doing this to your rotors is supposed to dissipate heat faster but will only help with repeated hard braking (racing). The rotors that you see for our cars that are cross drilled/slotted aren't even designed that way. They are standard blank rotors that are bought and cross drilled strictly for looks. If you get rotors like this they are more likely to crack but that shouldn't be a huge problem from what I've seen from other with them. If you want better braking performance, then invest in a big brake kit. Bigger rotors is the best way to get your car to stop faster, cross drilling won't do much for stopping distance.
I would disagree about the "Just for looks." If you have cross drilled rotors, and you get on your brakes hard, you'll be able to notice there won't be any brake fade, especially if you're going fast and down a hill or something in that nature....but its probably true that unless you're racing or getting hard on your brakes, that you probably won't need them in normal driving, especially if you're a careful driver. I have brembo crossed drill on my I30t and the escape of the gasses is noticiable, they are a bit louder when braking hard.
I think the slotted type does the same, let the gasses escape but I haven't tried them. If you see some high end BenZ, you'll mostly see cross-drilled. Just make sure you get a good set like Brembo, I got mine from Stillen, not cheap but so far its been over 50K and no signs of cracks.
Chucky.
