Max Owner w/ Chrome Door Handle Question...

I plan on converting the interior door handles on my 98 Max to the chrome I30 handles. I know everything fits, but my question concerns convenience: do they turn to ice in the winter or fry in the summer? Does any condensation build on them? The Maxima's plastic handles are neutral to the touch all year round, and I've seen other cars with metal interior handles that do get wet sometimes (especially if it's cold outside and the heat is cranked).

congrats, you just fell for nissans fake chrome handles. under that chrome is plastic. its a cheap metal coating, hell my coating felll off of my front handles. they dont got hot or moist, so no worries you wont have any problems. well i have a 96 im guessing the 98's are the same

Fcukin-A. I did not know that, and I don't think I've ever seen an I30 with the chrome - er, COATING, worn off. But I would definitely hate to look at worn out handles (that I spent time and money on). Hhmmm.... that makes the decision a bit more complicated.

Really? I have a 96 I30 with handles that look perfect. Am I just lucky? I have never had a moisture or noticable temp problem with them and I'm in frigid Minnesota. They do look great though...

Hhmm... so the wear and tear on the handles varies. I go easy on my stuff, so I can't see it being too much of a concern. Besides - I can't possibly drive my 98 for another eight or nine years (I'll probably be driving a Maxima, but it'll be a 6th gen), so it won't even be a concern.....

Thanks for the input everyone.

Yea, they are plastic. I have replaced both front ones on my 96' because my passengers an I started to cut our fingers on chrome that peeled. Its razor sharp so you will know right away once they will start to go

regards, Bart.
