Yeah I figured that part out but he was talking about screws. The original covers are held on by 3 screws. Since I have some experience with them, I thought I would enlighten you all.

The glass simply pops off with a screw driver.

Yeah it does but the glue that holds it in place won't be as strong after you take it off. I suppose you could put more glue on and realign it, but that is too much work for me.

I checked my mirrors the other night and I DON'T have heated ones. Too bad it would have been kind of cool since I've had my car for 3 years already thinking that I didn't have them.

anton9881: There is no glue holding on the mirror onto the mirror assembly. The mirror is actually held on by a snap in type of rig. Basically, the mirror snaps onto the motor assembly inside the mirror housing.

You shouldn't have a problem popping the mirror off and then popping it back on. I didn't have a problem when I installed the LED turn Signals on the mirror assembly.

I think he is refering to that white sticky tar ****. We have the black sticky tar **** on our tails as well. I would not worry about it drying up soon as when I put on my cefiro tails I had to dig the old stuff out with a screw driver and then reuse it in the new taillights. For being 8 years old it was still plenty sticky and I had to use thinner to remove it from my fingers and screw driver.
