Center Tail light mod.

OK, I have not heard of or seen anything about this on here before so I am assuming that no one has tried this????

Anyway, I am sitting here with the center tail light (not the high mount stop) on the floor and I have un-glued the lense from the piece that mounts to the car and houses the light bulbs. (Like when you clear your tails)

This was not as hard as I originally thought it would be, but it took 2 people to un-glue it because we don't have an oven big enough to fit the whole thing in at once (like when you clear the corner tails)

My thought is, taking out all of the lenses inside the housing. In this tail piece there are 5 total lenses inside. You have the two clear lenses that are on top in each corner (next to the infiniti letters emblem), you have the two clear lenses in the bottom corners (reverse lights) and then you have one big tinted lense in the middle of this housing that goes behind the infiniti letter emblem and below it.

To make things the easiest, I was thinking about replacing each bulb with an LED bulb (the kind on Superbrightleds.com that are replacement socket bulbs) and then making an LED board that goes behind the center piece of the housing (where the infiniti letter logo is and below it).

When you apply the brakes, the regular lights will light up, but so will the center LED's behind the infiniti letter logo.

Has anyone done this yet and is not then what are your thoughts?

No, def. nobody has one this. Not a bad idea either. If you do decide to do an LED Board, I'd suggest doing a whole LED Rear swap, such as the outers too. Also, you can get rid of the 3rd brake light entirely. Now, you can have your normal parking lights on, which would be 3 rows of LEDs, then when you hit the brakes 2 more rows will come on and shine brighter equalling out to 5 rows along with the LED Center Board Piece whichwould illuminate on braking. I think that would look real nice IMO and not overkill as if the center piece as to be illuminated as parking lights. GL tho if you do decide to do something of the sort!

Actually there's this guy down by Park Land ( near my city) that took his emblems off and he made a LED board and spelled out Infiniti I30 when his head lamps are turned on. Looks pretty sweet too.
