I30 Leather Driver Seat Problem

Hi,

I have a 2001 Infiniti I30 and I've just noticed that the driver side seat has a 1cm cut on the leather:-( I don't know how it got there since I have no kids to mess around with them. Could have been some change in my pocket-I seriously don't know. I called my dealer and they told me it'll be about $700 to replace the leather!!

What are my options right now? Anything I could do?? Shall I just leave it like that hoping that it won't become bigger or you think I should shell out the money?

Any pointers will be much appreciated!

Regards,
rattili

At an upholstery shop they might be able to re-upholster the seat with fake leather for less than half the price of real leather. Otherwise, your best bet is to take some measures on your own to prevent ripping it more.

infinitishock, thanks for your reply. Do you think things sold on asseenontv.com would work? Check out:Liquid leather

My cut is about 1 cm, so am thinking maybe I should get this.

There are places that can patch the leather. It won't look perfect, but i'd trust it more than that stuff. Im sure most upholstery shops would know how to do this.

an upolstry shop will do the trick. 700 for a replacement seat is absurd

I went to an upholstery earlier this week and the guy said he'll replace that 1 panel for about $275-will get an almost perfect match since it's black. I thought it's not a bad price. But again if they have to replace the panel anyhow, I thought I might as well wait until it's a bit big since the cut is pretty small right now.

i rather buy a racing seat =\. but you probably aren't into that. but yea, the seat itself shouldn't even cost 700, assuming you swap the motor for the power seats.

Thanks guys. I've decided to wait and see how it goes. Right now the cut is not even visible. I'll get the panel replaced if it ever grows big! Until then, gotta love the I30!!
