Starting To Smell Fuel....

I'm starting to smell fuel comin from rather under my car, or from under the hood. I believe it's time to replace the fuel filter.... or is there more to it than that..? Actually I might just have to replace some hoses, I'm debating to rather do all the work myself, or have a mechanic do the job (depending how hard the work is).

Needing to change a fuel filter should not cause a fuel smell. Why do you think you need to replace hoses?

My I30 only has 174k miles on it...
For some reason all day today it smelled like fuel fumes, but then at night it doesn't. Also it smells a bit stronger when the A/C is turned on.
Not only that, gas has been suckin up alot more lately as well!
That's the only thing I can think of is causing the problems

So am I going the right direction?... Should this be the first things to get replaced? Fuel filter and hoses? Then see what happens from there?
