Cefiro Name ?

<Disclaimer> I'm just curious. no flames pls </disclaimer>

Just curious why some Infiniti owners call their cars Cefiros when you have an Infiniti.. I have an actual Cefiro.. but I thought Infiniti was meant to be the luxury version of the Maxima/Cefiro so just curious as to why you want to call it a lower branded name?

S'pose what ever floats your boat here (in NZ) some Cefiro owners refer to their cars as maximas but thats only 'cos the Cefiros considered a cheaper import (heh mainly by Maxima owners).

We like the Cefiro name because it is different. Where I am there are more Maximas then you could count and a few I30's. I'm a big fan of having something different then what is common. Look at my car and you can tell.

^^^LMAO!! Man that sucks for real it ain't even funny but 3 F-n times damn that's sad on his part.

Anyways, Cefiro is not a downgraded version of our Infiniti I30. Have you seen the exterior or the Taiwan/Phillipine model? Has Dual projectors, same grill, Sleeker front bumper, and it's rear looks like this:

Now, I don't know about you, but that looks more luxurious than our American A32 I30 model.

actually...its totally different for Type R....people call their Civic Type R's because they're idiots and don't know the difference...also they wanna hype up they're car as much as they want...besides I havent seen a type R badge in so long...cefiros and I30's are practically the same thing...it's just that they happened to change the engine...not much difference there really...
overall...the cefiro is a luxury car in other countries and the i30 is a luxury car here...if both are = to luxury...how is that like calling it a civic a type r??

the guy above was mistaken...

I call it that because Im from the philippines...and when i was growing up i loved cefiros...and when i moved up here....whaddaya know? they were called I30's....i thought...not much different....just one xtra liter....interiors the same and the exterior's the same too...except with a few minor modifications...

Yeah the cefiro comes in 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0litre configuration, don't think theres a vq35de in a cefiro yet, I think they have gone the NEO way.

It would be awesome to get the tail lights from that car on our i30's, they look so much newer and closer to the 00+ style (to me at least). It looks like the side taillights could be swapped into our cars, and if you look closely there's a "break" (best word i could think of) where our red center portion starts on the trunk, so it seems like the middle portion of that trunk (along with the license plate, which would have to be filled) can be swapped out for the matching part of our trunk (where the I N F I N I T I letters are). What do you guys think about this? lol sorry if this doesnt make sense.

LoL, I understand what you're talking about, but it makes no sense. All you'd have to do is get that trunk lid and swap it with your's. Yes, I know it's not that easy cuz it would be a b*tch to find and attain, but the time and money to get the trunk from Taiwan I'm sure would be cheaper than doing all that bodywork that you're talkin about.

Only body work you would need thereafter is to fill in the bottom License Plate holder on the rear bumper or just buy the Cefiro Bumper as well for a complete conversion. Maybe Sy can get you the bumper, but I don't know about the Trunk Lid. I tried talkin to a couple kids from Taiwan already about the Trunk lid and still waiting on them to get back to me if they could find one.

To each his own. I have the same rear as you, but with Cefiro Clears for 96-97 I30 Models with Body Painted Center Oblique and I love my rear, but I like the newer style, Next-Gen look MUCH better. So much more rich and classy lookin IMO.

Lol i know i made it more confusing that it needed to be...i just figured that shipping a whole trunk lid here would be expensive as hell, and just swapping out the middle would let you keep the infiniti logo emblem, i30 (t) emblem, and limited emblem (if you have it) without having to move those over too. lol just my crazy way of thinking.

Yeah, Maxmutes, any pics of your rear with the painted center? would love to see what mine could look like, i hate the long oblique piece, it really ruins the whole rear

oh, and although i dont call my car a cefiro, you must admit that they did get a few things right on the cefiro, that they missed out on the i30, im referring mainly to the rear taillights as everyone has mentioned, the one-piece headlights, the wood steering wheel, & the nicer front grill (matter of opinion, but still....)

They didn't miss by much. You just need to find the right options (I30 Limited). Mine came with a wood steering wheel as well as the chrome kick plates. The grill on the I30 can also be found on select Cefiros as I found on a Taiwanese web site.
