Door Skin

Hi, I recently damaged my driver's door pretty badly, but only cosmetically (thank god). I am looking into buying just the Door Skin and then changing it out by myself. Have any of you done this? Is it hard/time consuming?

the door skin is just pretty much the door itself. its only the metal, no internals.

How bad is it? Do you really have to replace the skin or is it something paintless dent removal can fix?

It's pretty bad. I have a dent that stretches from the beginning of the door all the way almost to the beginning of the rear door.
