Keyless Entry

My keyless entry has gone bad I think. It used to work fine and then one day it just stopped working from far away. Now it only works when you are about 2 feet literally from the car. I thought maybe the battery was dying so I bought a brand new battery and still have the same problem. Does anybody know what could be causing this. Maybe it's not the keychain thing but the actual sensor on the car going bad?

First try reprograming the fob to the control unit. Its in the 4th gen stickies.

I reprogrammed the FOB to the control unit and it still does the same thing. It only works about 2 or 3 feet away from the car. And it only works on the driver's side of the car and toward the rear bumper but not on any other places of the car. Should I just buy a new remote off ebay and program it or could this be caused by something else?

You could try it... it is either the fob or the control unit in the trunk. I guess if the ebay fob is cheap then go for it.

I have kind of the same problem. I got an aftermarket remote starter installed. On the remote, there is buttons for opening and closing the doors, poping the trunk, panic, and remote start. At the place I had it installed, the technician told me I would most likely have to get another module installed for all the buttons to work other than the remote start. Is there any way I can just program it to work? I already tried the method posted in the 4th gen sticky.

Well the fob on ebay runs from about $29-$40 so I'll buy one of those and try that. Hopefully it works but if not I can always sell it back on ebay again....

If the fob doesnt do the trick, then you will have to replace the module in the trunk... A new one is several hundred dollars, but I am sure you could pick one up in the 4th gen classifieds for about $50.

I ordered a new FOB off ebay and I'm awaiting it's arrival in the mail. I'll let you know how or if that works.... Just wondering where exactly in the trunk is that module located?

Just make sure to properly reprogram it according to the 4th gen stickies. The control module is located on the passenger side of the trunk. Just remove the lining and you will see it bolted on there... Its about 4''X4" in size. I had to replace mine so they are an item that can go out.
