Bose Question

Anyone else have this problem? The lights on my Bose are going out , one at a time. First it was the lower right(presets 5-6, the cd button). Now it is the left side(tape eject, the pop out buttons). Is this a common problem? Is there any way to stop it from happening or repair it?

I haven't seen any extra #2's laying around, but I have seen a few Bose head units for our cars on ebay.

I've had a few Nissan's/Infiniti's with the bose system and never had a problem with the lights and never knew anyone that did. You may have a defective unit.

The buttons falling out is definitely a problem with the Bose stereo's in '96-'99 Nisaan's/Infiniti's. It happend on my '97 I30 and '99 Maxima. The problem is once they fall out you can't get them to stay in again, they keep falling out.

The lights on my bose unit are going out as well. When I first turn on the headlights at night the unit usually is not lit and I have to either press any button really hard or actually tap the front of the unit to get the lights to come back on. It's been doing this for about 3 weeks now and is really annoying. Also my tape deck just went out without explanation. I don't use tapes so it doesn't bother me that it went out but now the tape player randomly makes noise as if it's ejecting a tape but no tape is in it. I put a tape in the deck and it won't play it just keep periodically sucking the tape in and spitting it back out. It's really annoying I might just buy another used bose system off ebay.

I've seen it on the org, and was told by the local dealer when we had trouble with my wife's 02 Max GLE (the left side cut out problem when playing a cd).
Although I first realized it when I saw a Clarion emblem when I pulled the stereo out of my 97 I30 to try and replace it with a unit from a 99 I30 (it doesn't work by the way, the wiring harnesses are different).

Really?? I always thought that any year (96-99) would work. If it really has to be year specific, then that sucks... big time!

Pretty sure you would have to replace all the speakers in order for it to work.

Well that sucks.... so I have to use bose radio with bose speakers only? I also found a double DIN Clarion cd/cassette w/ a nice display on it for $199. That wouldn't work either would it? If not I'll just settle for another bose. Are they year specific?

Yup... bose speakers require bose deck... so the clarion would not work either, and the bose units are year specific appearently.

I have this unit, it's nice and plays divx. The menus aren't intuitive tho and don't look as nice as the ones in pioneer. You can run this with a bose adapter like this one http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7OszNrz...51&I=142C4NN03

Hello, Im new here and have to have 15 posts before I can start a new thread to introduce myself or ask questions. I just purchased a 99 I30t and heard that you cant upgrade the factory BOSE radio to an aftermarket ALPINE or something because of the ohm's Bose uses. Is this correct and is there any options to get around this without having to replace all the door speakers?

95-99 are all the same harness---above information is not correct. I have a 99 radio in my 96. Same harness.

You didn't have to make any modifications? I tired putting a unit from a '99 I30 in my '97 I30 and the harnesses were definitely not the same. I wish I still had the pictures to prove it but it was at least 2 years ago and I can't find them anywhere. Does the one you put in your '96 have the rotary ***** for bass and treble? Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-97...98769837QQrdZ1

No--that is why I changed it to the new style. I now have the push button style from my 99 in my 96. I have had 4 infinitis now--a 99, 2 96s and a 97. You have no idea what you are talking about and please stop polluting our information pool. You are a complete moron if you think Nissan changed the entire radio harness for one year during a 4 year product cycle.

Dude relax. I remember there was one harness that was round on the 97 but was square on the 99. (may have been vice versa) There is no doubt in my mind that this was the case because I had to re-sell the 99 cause I couldn't get it to fit. I wish I still the 97 I30 so I could show you but unfortunately I don't.

You oughtta think about getting the aux-input.... I had to deal with using a tape adapter for a while and about lost my mind because it sounds so horrible....

The 96-97 climate control harness is different from the 98-99 one...
The 96 rear O2 harness is different from the 97-99...
The 96 AAT harness (or lack there of) is different from the 97-99...
