Foglight question...im a noob

Hey guys

I have a 2000 A33 Infinti I30T with xenon headlights. I dont like how my foglights look yellow while my headlights look blueish white.

Is it possible to just change the bulb of my foglights so it appears white/blue WITHOUT having to rewire annything? or Must I rewire so the bulb doesnt burn out.

this has probably been asked several times... sorry.

that looks awesome.... Arnt Xenon and HID the same thing? I never understood the terms. Why do people rewire their fogs at all? I saw in some other post someone said you can get the bulbs from Syllvana.com or something? Do they fit directly just like the OEM bulbs without any kind of modifications?

Some people call the blue tinted bulbs xenon bulbs, but that is kinda stupid. Just call them what they are. If you want better output and color you can get an HID retrofit for your fogs, but that is a lot more expensive and more work to install.

If you just want a replacement bulb that will be closer to the color of your headlights get a superwhite bulb from PIAA, Polarg, sylvania, etc.

Most of these bulbs will only be available in 55w form so the bulb base will have to be modified a bit. It is really easy though, you just need to file down or dremel one of the cutouts to be the same as the 35w H3 you took out.

Hope this helps

here comes a dumb question that ive seen asked before.... havnt found the answer to it though

...How do I remove the current bulb from my foglights?

Do I try to access the foglights from undernearth the bumper? In which case I'd have to unscrew things?

Or do I pop it out somehow?

You do access the foglamps from underneath the front bumper. There are two plastic splash guards at each corner of the bumper with various bolts and plastic rivets holding it on. After you get enough of the fasteners out you should be able to pull the plastic out of the way, you dont need to remove the entire wheel well.

I dont think there is any good way for me to explain the exact number and location of the fasteners, so I just suggest you get under there and start taking things apart. You arent going to mess anything up and this is how I learned to do most things regarding my car.

Good luck and post some pics when you get done!

Ya, just get underneath the car and you'll need to remove 3 screw/rivets. Here is a pic of my $8 eBay "xenon" ala blue bulb. Pic quality sucks due to camera phone.

Are there any bulbs I can purchase that dont require filing down or dremeling to fit correctly? I don't think I have the right tools to do so, and dont want to buy something I'm unsure I'll be able to use. I've seen some on redlinemax.com ...pretty expensive. Are they direct fits?

I've heard someone say that you can just force the bulb in with a flatblade screwdriver and it will work, but I've never tried it.

You can just buy a small file and use that. Cheap and easy.

I have the same car, Can't I just get one of those cheap H3 xenon wanna be bulbs from ebay with the blue tint? I know they don't last as long as the stockers but they should give the same look. From what I understand, they are not true xenon, correct.

Also, how do you get the fog lights to come on withtout the main headlights?
