Looking to buy an 02 I35, any tips?
Just wondering what to look out for in this car. The HID theft issue seems to be a lot less in these vs my 02.
its got about 40k miles on the clock, blue w/frost leather. No sport package.
how do the rotors and breaks hold up on these cars? my 02 needed new rotors at 42k in the front.
Thanks All.

My 02 I35 sport with 72000kms is running strong. I bought it used and the transfer of bumper to bumper to warranty should not be a problem. I spoke to Infiniti Canada and they did my transfer over the phone.
Noticed some brake squeel starting to happen but nothing too serious yet. Enjoy your purchase

My I35 has about 80k miles - all my own. I have had no major problems - aside from brakes - continuous rotor warpage. The only major repair that I've had done aside from that was to replace a CV boot, as that had torn somewhere along the line.
Things to look out for - nothing that you wouldn't have seen on your Max. These things really are identical save for the sheetmetal and interiors.

Yeah that warrenty is fully transferable, there's not even any bs paperwork or anything like that, it even entitles you to free 24hr roadservice and a free service loaner, usually a 4dr rwd G35.
RUN A CARFAX!! I spent about 1 month straight looking at so many different cars after my 300ZX got totalled, I would search autotrader and e-bay soo soo much and every car I found I would check kbb and run a carfax, The carfax is sooo key, I passed on alot of cars that didn't come back clean by the time I finally came across my '96, it was female owned, dealer maintained, and priced a little below book, and best of all it was a stick. Wait it out and don't be quick to buy the first car you look at. GET A CARFAX!! It's only $25 and you can even run all your freinds and families vin numbers for s@#ts and giggles, my freinds '95 mustang blew the motor at 110k, the tech who tore it down was certain it had at least 200k, when we ran a carfax on it we found out is was a company vehicle for the first 11k miles, it was a v-8 stick so I'm sure he really "broke" it in. my other freinds 96 i30 was ---"Involved in a collision that was reported to the police with an earth element/ditch" lol. On a side note, a clean carfax doesn't mean sqwat, we bought our 99 i30 from enterprise rental and have long since sold it, I ran a carfax on it a month ago and it didn't come up that it was ever used as a rental.

One thing to look for in the used I35's are the headlights. I think they were a target for thieves looking to get cheap HID's just like the TL's. i bought my 02 I35 and didn't realize the headlights were aftermarket until 3 months later. Needless to say i feel like quite the fool now.

I would echo to definitly run a carfax and also have the dealership run the service history from Infiniti. You can then verify that all of the necessary recalls have been addressed. If not then you may be able to use that as a bargaining tool even though you can have that stuff addressed at the Infiniti dealership afterwards. I just bought my '02 in April and love it. I owned a 95 Max previously. Since I bought the I35 the only things I've had to take it in for was the CD changer skipping (they replaced the unit no charge) and a broken button for my heated front seat (replaced at no charge). Also, when you get ready to buy the Infiniti extended warranty check with several dealerships b/c the prices vary at each one. By checking around I ended up saving a little over $600.
