ST-R foglights are in!

first i like to thanks the "academy" for giving me this award...................................wait wrong speech.
thanks to Lee for the hook-up on these lamps, and to MetaOrbit for causing me too catch the "modding" bug. i swore when i bought this car i wouldn't **** with it, so much for that promise.
anyway forgive the poor quality of the pics, it's been rainig for the past 3 days and i have pneumonia. so taking great pics was the last thing on my mind. the light coming out of the lamps are brighter and clearer looking because these lenses are glass, not plastic like the I35 fogs. the really look a lot better in person, the photos don't do it justice.

ST-R fogs.

Awww...shucks.. You're welcome.

There's something about them. I'd hate to lose my cornering light (I think I'm the only one here who likes it - nightblindness pwnz me) but I still think they look nice. And it's pretty cool that they're glass. And I hope you feel better. Kick that pneumonia's a$$! haha

Meta since i have HID bulbs in the fogs, the cornering light was never noticeable from inside the car. there was more than enough light spilling out the sides.

Yo kings thanks!!! Hey are you west indies by any chance??? My fiance is from trinidad (West Indian) and had picked up on you name. Anyway, your car is looking sweet as usual man. I need to talk to you over pm about your HID kit in your fogs. Now you guys see why I didn't post pics of my car because you and I have the same car (WV2 rules!!!) + you have the yellow HID kit. I had to use the stock bulbs it came with because I blew one of my piaa bulbs. Anyway, hit me over pm on the hid kit install + brand on the new fogs.

Hey meta, the new fog lamps with just the stock bulbs are still brighter than the cornering light and fogs bulbs from the stock set. Adding on to what king said, the glass lamps are MUCH brighter especially for nighttime driving. The beam pattern is now wider than the stock fogs and because it's glass the illumination of the street is 10x better (and this is off of stock bulbs). I can't imagine how bright king's setup is since he is using a HID fog kit. OMG (**insert envy smiley**)

This should be a must have setup for night-drivers period.

thanks. the tires in the front are bigger/thicker than the rear, that's why it's looks "jacked" up. htey are the stcok tires from the "G". i plan on getting even sized tires all around, but won't do that till i get ready to lower the car.

I'll have to take your word for it. $500 fogs aren't in the picture for me anytime soon...

Lookin good as usuall king.

I actually like the design of the stock fog's... Well the visual design anyway.

I'd like to wetsand my stock fogs to get all the nicks and scratches out, then retro some projectors in there with a 3000k HID kit. Our stock fog reflectors suck major @ss as I'm sure all of you know.

actually he stock fog are fine. it's the way the beam is aimed when they are put on the car. i found this out 2 yrs ago when i did the fog/park light rewire. you can re-aim the beam higher and not blind the hell out off oncoming drivers. of course with the puny 35watt bulb that standard you don't get much illumination. i had 100 watt bulbs in there and the difference was very noticable and the factory wiring had no problem handling the extra wattage.

Lip is off the Australian ST-R, check the stickies and you'll see the info to order them.

Oh I've definitely found that they need to be aimed higher than what was set form factory. I have mine aimed properly with 55w bulbs (and my lovely yellow capsules), and output is still crap compaired to my 91' SAAB with 55w fogs.

I wonder if anyone makes HID projectors with a fog beam or if I just have to use lowbeam headlamp projectors? TSX projectors are pretty small, I bet those would fit

Hey guys will a 5000k kit or 6000k kit burn out our fog housings???? I want to order from umnitza group deal going in the Group Deal section. On their website, they have these fog lights called "XenonFog" available for all cars. The only thing is, they do not carry the 3000k kit and you can only order 5000k or 6000k. The price is too good to let go so I want to place an order but, I am just curious to see if these will work.

Kings, any help here?

Are you asking if they will melt you fog housings? If so, No, I would not worry about them melting anything.

nah. the don't even bother the lamps. i had 6000K bulbs in there at first, looked beautiful, then switched to 3000K just for the look. i'll jack up the car this weekend and take pics of my install to send you so you can see how i did things. i have to re-retrofit my Nismo intake, i want to try a new idea i cooked up while half asleep/half high on antibiotics and painkillers.

LOL. Thanks man as usual. I will await your email.

Hey, what was the difference in the "Look" of the 6000k compared to the 3000k. Wouldn't the 6000k shine brighter??? I won't go for the 6000k anyway, I think the 5000k should work (I hope). Just curious.

The kelvin ratings are mostly junk in the case of headlights - they correspond to a color scale really.

3000k should appear yellow, the higher end of the scale the light gets whiter and bluer.

Well, I guess I am learning something new everyday. Thanks Meta.

Looks like I will have to order/find the 3000k if I want the yellow look.

Guys, the umnitza website have lights on sale and you can get a better deal than what's advertised (on sale) if you call them.

The 3000k will actually have higher light output than the 6000k as well!

The higher the K (over like 3500k or something) the lower the usable light. Thats why those 8000-12000k kit are pretty much just for color.
