'99 O2 sensor problems were common or not??

my freind was givin an offer from a tech at infiniti, to buy a motor from a '99 that had around 60k on it. The reason it was pulled from the car and needed an overhaul was because of excessive carbon build-up due to an o2 problem, he said this particular problem was common on '99's, I know your car is cali spec, and I don't know what sort of fix there was for this problem, all I know is what I stated above, but I'm curious if anyone else knows about this.

and no, my freind never grabbed up on this motor, which stinks because all it needed was a new gasket kit and some wirewheelin' and it would have been straight, I'm heated, it would have been cheap and I would love to have that right now

o2 senosor go bad on every car. They are not something that lasts the life of the car. In general I30's/Maxima's might go though them a little faster than some other cars but an o2 sensor is a maintenace thing just like brakes, tires, and oil. They are not expensive so it really is not that big of an issue

Yes I agree with you on all that, it's just the way this guy made it sound was that there was some kind of design or production problem with the O2's on some '99's that caused them to act functional but still read a little leaner. You've answered my question though, I geuss this wasn't to common of a problem since no-one else has heard of this. On a side note, thanks for posting a response, I sweat your car, your motor has been my background for weeks.
