Exhaust Question
Exhaust Question
My I30 has a single muffler with dual outlet pipes. (01 with 44K miles)
When I started it yesterday I noticed some smoke/steam coming out of the right outlet but not the left. I put my hand under it and there was almost no air coming from the left pipe. I assume that both are connected to the same chamber in the muffler. Or is the left one more of a dummy pipe?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

The muffler has kind of a "variable flow."
At higher RPMs, the muffler becomes free-er flowing and the other pipe should open up and let exhaust flow.
At least that's kinda how it works on the VQ35 equipped cars. I didn't know the 00-01 I30s had the same muffler.
