30k mile service at dealership $750

Anyone gotten a comparable job done at other places for cheaper? Other that visually check everything it looks like the dealership:

1. Aligns headlights
2. Replace air filter
3. Replace brake fluid
4. Drain and replace engine coolant
5. Replace diff fluid
6. Replace micro filter
7. Replace oil filter
8. Replace transmission fluid
9. Replace wipers
10. Rotate tires
11. Change oil
12. Clean audio antenna mast

you can do most of that yourself. but if you have to pay someone, any garage will be way cheaper than the stealership. the only thing they might not do on the list is align your headlights.

1,2,3,9,and 12 are so easy why pay someone.Trans flush, oil change, coolant and rotation can be done for under 200 almost anywhere. Micro filter???? The transaxle will be serviced with most transmission locations with flush just ask, usually cheaper places just do quick flush, not an entire flush of the whole sysytem.

I would absolutely LOVE to see you do all that in less than an hour. Even with a proper shop, I doubt you'd make two.

That said, these are really not dificult jobs to do. Just take some time in the next couple weekends and do it yourself. If you need any help on how to do something properly, the org is here for you.

Doing these things yourself is so much more rewarding.

1. Aligns headlights ( don't need to do it)
2. Replace air filter (5 sec job that you can do it yourself)
3. Replace brake fluid (harder, but it doesn't need to be done at 30k could wait)
4. Drain and replace engine coolant ( could also wait, but not harder than changing the oil)
5. Replace diff fluid (could wait)
6. Replace micro filter (could wait)
7. Replace oil filter (part of the oil change)
8. Replace transmission fluid (could still wait if you don't beat on it, usually at 60K)
9. Replace wipers (its free when you buy them, but seriously..come on)
10. Rotate tires (could ask the oil change place to do it, should be more than $10 for all of them
11. Change oil (easy to do, or give it to the dealer, shouldn't be more than $30 with the oil change)
12. Clean audio antenna mast ( no need)

Out of all those things, i would just do the oil change, air filter, rotate tires. Probably won't do the coolant n tranny flush just yet. Honestly. You can wait till 60k service to do the rest of this n should be a problem. ( not talking abotu the oil change n neccesity)

If you honestly would want to do ALL of those, i would put away at LEAST 5 hours since it might be your frist time doing all of these things. Hardest of them all would probably be the brakes since you HAVE to be careful NOT to get bubbles in them. Took me a while to change my own brakes. Just didn't trust myself enough till about 1 1/2 years ago when i saw the guy change it step by step.

You all have given really good feedback and I appreciate it. I have the extended Infiniti warranty and one of the stipulations of maintaining coverage is that the factory scheduled maintainence be followed. Anybody had a problem with doing the work yourself and then having it void your warranty?

Seriously, warranty work should not be affected. Get the main things done - oil change, trans service, cooling system, but more than half of the stuff on that list you can do yourself.

You can definitely do a line-item veto on those things. I did.

And re-align headlights and replace antenna mast? Seems like they're eager to bill labor for things they're not going to do..
