Possible 2000 I30 Purchase
Hello All,
I am considering the purchase of a 2000 I30 with 132,000 miles. The price is good and the car looks good in photos. I am going to see it this weekend. It is a one owner vehicle that has made most of it's miles from highway commuting. I know this is basically a Maxima with a nicer covering. However, I would like some opinions from I30 owners of things I should consider if I decide to purchase.
Thanks,
Paul

Can't really give an opinion w/o a price and option list. It is alot of miles for the year and isn't a "t" so it isn't loaded. I saw a 2000 I30 w/ 80K for $8000 the other day and that was at a used car lot, if that helps.

The car is loaded from what I can tell. Bose 7 speaker, Traction Control, fr & side airbags, heated leather seats. It is a one owner that commutes about 50 miles one way to work. He had 100k extended warranty and followed maintainence schedule. Will provide all service records.
Price $6200
Thanks again.

Look out for these common problems:
Bad rear o2 sensors....Ask if they have been replaced and the ECU updated.
Bad MAF.....Ask if the improved one has been installed.
Heated seats...they often stop working because of broken coils in the seat. Make sure they still work.
Bad ignition coils...usually start to fail at 40K miles. Make sure all six have been replaced.
The seller may not know, but the service records should have all the details.
Even thought these engines can go 200K+ miles since this car has 132K make sure you have some reserve funds for future repairs. Also, never hurts to come back with a lower offer, say $5100 and see what he says.
Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Yeah, that's a lot of miles but Max/I30's have been known to go for 300k and more as long as they are maintained.
Make sure your CV boots are changed, might be time for a new starter and alternator as well.
