Changing Xenon bulb

Changing Xenon bulb
Hello,
I tried to go through posts trying to find a way to change the Xenon bulb on my 2000 I30t, but couldnt find any.
Does anyone know how to change it? I bought it from Dave B. and told me its not that hard.
I called the local Infiniti here and they told me I should have them change it because its high voltage...?
So can anyone please tell me how do I install it? I see a big black housing screwed on to the headlight assembly and then a silver boxy thing screwed behind it.
Which one do I remove?
Thanks,
Omar

I have your HID system in my 2nd gen maxima. If you want to be safe you can disconnect the negative battery terminal. You have to open the cover on the back of the headlight (it is black, round and unscrews pretty easily). once it is open, push the bulb connector in (should be round, silver, and have a half orange/ half white voltage warning sticker on the back facing you) and twist it counter-clockwise(if I remember correctly). That will release your bulb from the connector. After that take off the bulb holder (a metal pin looking thing that should have two loops on the top). That hold your bulb in place. you push those two loops back, seperate them outwards, then toward the headlight and pinch them together, then pull softly out, and that should release your bulb. After that just take out your bulb, and do the reverse to put it back in and connect it. then just reconnect the negative battery terminal and you're done. hope this helps

Ok I just changed it and your instructions worked very well.
However, the new bulb I put in is a different color than the bulb on the driver side.
The new bulb on the passenger side is yellowish/white whereas the one on the driver side is blue like it should be (every other I30 Ive seen with Xenons is blue as well).
What can be wrong?

Nothing is wrong...
HID bulbs go through a color shift (to bluer) as they get older. Only thing you can do is replace the other one bulb, or get a bulb with a higher color temp (maybe 5000K) to replace the bulb you just bought.

Appareently you dont have much experience with HID systems.
At initial startup ALL HID bulbs are a darker color, then they get whiter and brighter as they warm up for the first few seconds.
THIS IS ALL TOTALLY NORMAL. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR HEADLIGHTS!
If you want them to match, get a new bulb for the other side as well.

This is due to color shift!
