I30SPEED, Thanks for the reply. I have been liasing with Brian from Cattman and I believe from my research thier Y Pipe is the best in terms of finish, fittment and performance.

I30SPEED your ride is so clean and nice... I like it a lot.

Anyone else have any feedback?

budget y pipe here...no complaints over 20k miles on it. makes the exhuast note a tad louder, no bees in the can, and no fitment issues.

Thanks CreativeDesignz

Did you notice much improvement in power/acceleration?

High end/Low end/throughout?

from about 3500 up is where i felt the most difference, def noticed some low end but up top is where u can really feel it. and for 160 shipped it was a steal. also i got the aluminzed steel version and living in jersey with the winters and wet weather theres not one spot of rust on it and i was extremely happy about that

Got a cattman here. Love the gains and sound. Would not be caught dead running the pre cats.

Thanks i30ds.

Can you really feel it?

For example, post Y-pipe can you out run any car that you couldn't in the past?

Does it make the A32 suprisingly quick?

I know the sound will be freaking awesome, especially as I already have a nice cat back system, but I just want to be a sleeper that sneaks up on unsuspecting V8's and gives them a run. Ideally when we come to a stop I want them to be like wtf.

Yes you really can fell it. ANybody that says other wise did not really know what their car felt like before the y pipe anyways. It is really felt in the mid range... 3500-5000 rpms.

The felling gains will be more prominate on a manual than an auto as you don't have that direct power to the wheels felling that you get with the stick shift.

If you already have a catback, the y pipe will just compliment your exhaust tone even more. It will sound nice... trust me. It is definately worth the $150-$300 depending on what brand you choose.

Yeah I understand - hp rules.

I wish I could also shift gears when I see tears but alas I have the trusty O/D, D, 2, 1 auto transmission

got the budget here. The only problem is that i have a dent in my y-pipe where the y ends (lowest part to the ground) It's due to being too low to the ground..-= ) and now i think i put a hole in the resonator and something prob got loosened when i keep on bottoming out cause now i can hear the headers, and now it kinda sounds like a v8..-= )...but def worth it. If you're doing it yourself, be careful of the bolts, i had to get mine torched off which wasn't cheap....

I believe this is one of the things that is covered in the 4th gen forums regularly, and thus doesn't need to be discussed in here. This has nothing to do with I30's.

Same here, it was a top-speed stainless and awhile back there was a guy selling them on e-bay w/out the hardware kit, I bought some bolts and gaskets from nissan and that was that, it's awesome, I put it to a 5.5 gen if that means anything, there's no doubt in my mind I would have lost if i didn't have a y-pipe.

-Is it true that minimal gains can be expected with the headers/y-pipe vs. the y-pipe on my year/model?

-Which place stocks a high quality y-pipe with reasonable shipping fees?

or better yet

-Does anyone know of any shops in Southern California that might have an A32 y-pipe in stock?

Thanks a lot and sorry for the lame newbie questions...
I'm getting tired of posts and threads like this. This isn't an I30 specific question, so take it to the 4th gen forums. Also, since this can all be answered by the 4th gen stickies, this should be deleted.

To answer your questions, which BTW, have been asked 1000 times before...
Yes, you can use the y pipe on a SC auto
Yes, the gains over a y pipe that headers give are pretty minimal for what they cost.
Try some of our sponsors, like RedLineMax, or Custom Maxima.
I doubt any store will ever stock a Maxima y pipe, unless it's the Redlinemax shop here in MD.

Next time, when you think you're about to ask a question that has been asked a million times before, wait, and do some research yourself.

Pardon my ignorance but what is a 5.5 gen?

2002-2003 Because of 3.5L, it also could come with a helical lsd 6spd.

350z or g35 y pipe fits 02' i35?

Hi guys,
I'm a new 02 i35 owner with 33k. I'm in love with the car but for what I can see is pretty hard to get a body kit (fron and back lips) for this sedan. Anyways, my question isn about the g35 and 350z catback/muffler.
I really like how the exhaust in these coupes sound and would like to give this sound to my car.
Question is: would the catback or muffler from the g35/350z fit in this car, is it compatible with the i35 engine. Thanks for any help.
Sincerely,

Giancarlo

Giancarlo,
See, technically, the G35 and 350Z have the same VQ, if im not mistaken. But the reason they sound different and alot nicer than your VQ is because the way their exhaust is bent. ALso, their exhausts are much shorter than those on the I35s and Max 5.5 gens this results in a "more raw" tone out of thier engine. In response to your quesiton, no, the catback exhaust off of a 350Z or G35 will NOT fit your car. it's sad but true. G35 and 350Z owners are lucky...

If im wrong somebody correct me, don't want somebody gettin the wrong info...thanks

Why would you have your own y pipe welded up? Thats gotta be more expensive than just buying a cheap one from budget, warpspeed, or CE.

Won't work. No how. No way. What so ever. Why not just throw on some aftermarket goodies from the 5.5 gen Maxima? Stillen and CE have a bunch. Just throw on an intake, headers, y pipe, and a cat back and you'll have a set up that puts a stock G35/350z to shame.

Put a Top Speed Pro Y-pipe on mine. It actually runs fairly quietly. Definite acceleration gains over stock..but do not have any slips to prove it...just the 'ol butt-dyno results!

Gas mileage increase on highway, but not in town.
