wow, nice work mang. i had the same idea, well i had a local shop try it out for me to fit a 6.5, they took the face off the oem h/u only to say that its not stiff enough and wouldn't work. well i kept the face so now ima try it out. what all did you use and where can i get duraglass?

Thanks for the compliments. There was no fiberglass work done at all. Like I said they took the plastic face plate from the OEM radio and filled in all the holes and actually made it thicker and stronger all around with duraglass. They took two days to do it and charged me $200 for it. I let them do the actual radio installation too (I regret that part, I could have done it myself) so that was 2 hours of labor @ $75/hr. so the total cost was $350.

They also offered me to make a mold out of the faceplate and make a new one out of abs plastic (apparently they have a plastic injection machine) that would have been more expensive around $300. I would have done that, but that I didn't really care about saving the OEM radio.

hehe. I did not read in detail; my fault. Yeah, thats what threw me off totally. I was going to get the prefab work done but then insufficient funds, well more like I had commited to other things.

Glad I was patient, I just got the hookup with the Sycefiro kit. I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival. Now, I gotta do research on the H/U I want. Or I might just go ahead and install a carputer like I initially planned. Lots of free time. Wheeeeee. lol

Also, it really sucks that when I go to circuitcity or bestbuy websites and try to find something to fit my car I find NOTHING!
Nothing seems to fit my car ...
that unit is an Eclipse AVN2454, I'm selling mine but they don't make it anymore, they have newer more pricey ones
I'm selling mine for 650 in case you're interested

Aftermarket head unit

I have one for sale if anybody wants it. $80 shipped priority mail with insurance. Ebay name is "bsuccess1" to verify my credibility. I bought it from Sycefiro about a year ago, and sold by I35 about six months ago. It has just been sitting in the garage. The unit is in new condition. If you don't purchase this unit from me Sycefiro is a good seller, so you can't go wrong either way.

Hello Everyone

I am new here, and am interested in buying the dbl din kit purchased above. If I cannot get a hold of SYCEFIRO, (I emailed him already) does anyone know anywhere else I can get this part?

Jeff

Kenwood DD sterero with PAC SWI-JACK

Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm installing a DNX8120 with the PAC SWI-JACK and I'm not sure how to correctly wire the steering wheel controller. Also-is the trip computer (TRIP botton on the steering controls) totally lost or the the SWI-JACK also activate that?

Thanks

Hate to bump a dead thread, but my mom's head unit has crapped out in her 2000 I30t. Sy, I'd love to get that kit, but do you have access to the bottom trip piece that goes around the HVAC controls to match? If you had that available in the same wood trim that would work really well in her car.
