bose sub cutout?

Im getting tired of my bose system, my sub will cut out all the time, at first i thought the amp was getting hot but its not, my sub will cut out not even 1 minute in to the first song with the bass at medium, then the sub a come back and go off again on and off. is this common, have you guys had this problem? its really annoying because without the sub the rest of the speakers sound crappy by themselves.

i would guess its your amp. from my experience speakers dont cut in and out-
its the signal to them that does that.

either ur sub is blown or that channel in ur amp is out. jus cuz its blown doesnt mean it will be completely off, it will be pretty distorted though like its farting...

Or it'll smell really bad cause you melted the voicecoil. But I hooked up one of my stock Bose 6.5"s to my 2400 watt amplifier and blew the hell out of it. But didn't melt the voicecoil so unlikley you did that. My stock speakers would do that when my battery was low cause it couldn't power the amps. Sorry I couldn't more but that's just to say that it didnt blow your sub.

I had this problem. There is a connector with a rectangular transformer hooked up before the sub, it has foam padding rapped around it. Take that and cuz the foam and the hard plastic off the wire harness. after doing so you will see the black transformer soliderd to a cpu board. See if there is some play to it, if there is then on the bottom of the cpu board resolder the connectors to the transformer to the board until its nice and solid. And there you go it should be fixed after that. If not then

1. Cant be you amp because your entire system wouldnt work not just your sub.
2. Could be that your sub is blown but the it wouldnt work at all.
3. A loose connection somewhere like the connection that i had just mentioned.

Best fix change the sub all together and see what happens

Good luck with everything i will see if i can find pics and post what i am talking about if you are unclear still.

It may be jsut a short in the plug that goes into the subwoofer. I had the same issue happen before I upgraded the stereo system.
