dropping the front suspension only!

hey guys,
After reading a lot of posts about suspension I'm still a little undecided about how to go about dropping my ride.
To be honest with you I kind like the stock rear suspension so I'm actually looking just to get drop on the front. That huge gap is horrible!
I was thinking about going with a front set of H&R's and keep the stock shocks for now. What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance!

Giancarlo

Lots of folks have done it. What's the question?

I have H&R fronts and Illuminas all around. I didn't like the H&Rs with stock struts.

I guess I though it was not going to look like an even drop.
So with the H&R's on the front and illuminas all around, how's the ride?
A lot different that stock?
By the way, I bought the wheels from colossus. Hope I get them this weekend.

It's pretty even. It looks high in the rear sometimes when the gas tank is empty though. But fill the tank and I think it looks perfect.

I think this setup is closest to stock out of the three I've had installed. That said, it still does not ride like stock. It is "bumpier" on rough roads. But IMO it is more than tolerable.

I have my Illuminas set stiffer all around so my car definitely doesn't ride like stock. But it feels very controlled. I felt with the stock struts and the H&Rs up front it was too bouncy on expansion joints on the interstate.

BTW - you got a steal of a deal on those wheels and tires.

So looking at the prices on ebay, the illuminas go for about 500 bucks and the H&R's for about 280 bucks shipped.
I guess I'll have to sell my black wheels with tires and the original i35 wheels (silver 17's) to come out with that money...
There's no point on keeping those wheels stored in the garage anyways!

If you're doing the work yourself I'd just say try it with the H&R front springs first.

You might not have a problem with it. I'd been running Illuminas for a while when I switched to H&Rs and decided I couldn't do without them.

Got the sport wheels last nite! Looking gooood!
But, what's with the different tires size though?
If both i35's (sedan and sport sedan) roll on 17's, why the ratio aspect on the sport tires is 50 and not 55? They are both 17x7 right?
I'm confused
What's the point oh mounting smaller tires on the i35 sport 17's?
The wider I understand, wider = better handling.

They're smaller in diameter. But the tires are wider.

Non-sport is 215/55/17. Sport is 225/50/17.

I was driving about 2 months with H&Rs just in the front + stock struts! and ride was horrible. My car was just like a mad cow on the road..., beleive me! ;]

Opposite is that you would have a nice looking car and here you can see some pics with just a front drop...

Good luck

If they are smaller in diameter and I put them on my car (which it doesn't have the sport suspension) wouldn't the front and rear wheel-fender gaps look bigger with smaller tires?
I'm guessing yeah, the gaps will look a little bigger. I guess is another good excuse to drop that biatch!

Technically, yes, but probably not enough for you to notice.
