Low Mileage on 2000 i30t

Hi All,

Recently I changed all 6 ignition coils and spark plugs for my 2000 i30t. I see the mileage considerably low. For a full tank of gas in city driving I am getting 260 miles.
Please let me know whats wrong and what can be done.

Thanks

Mohiudr

Your gas mileage sounds about right for city driving. I have the same car and get about the same per tank.

There have been MANY threads talking about gas mileage and what the average should be for our vehicles. I would recommend you do a search on this in the I30/I35 forum as well as the 5th gen Max forum. You will find many other posts on mileage with others sharing what they get and what they have done to improve it.

What MPG did you get for city driving before you changed the coils?

Hmmm I only managed 13.5 MPG on my last tank for the '00, I was revving the engine during cold starts to warm up the car faster since I am still having that stalling issue, revving it was the only way to prevent it from stalling, does it burn that much fuel? I remember I was averaging 25 MPG (mixture of city and highway) for the '97 Max SE.

Reving the engine up constantly will use more fuel.

This might be weird but my I35 with 89 speedway gas is running at a lower mpg than 89 Shell

in a tank with Speedway i got barely 290mi
with Shell i got 310 mi easy.

I stay away from the cheap stuff, I only use 76, Chevron, and Shell .
