I plan on probably trading mine in or selling it at around 130-140K or so, before things start to get unecomical to repair.

I just wrecked my 91 Saab 9000s a couple weeks ago, it had 175k and was still running strong. Some of my very generous relatives pitched in and bought me a 96 I30t with 142k on it - for $2750. I haven't driven it tons yet, but every second I have has been heavenly. How did I not know about these cars before?

I have 97 I30 and currently has 277K troublefree miles.

All I had done is regular maintenance to it like fluid changes, tune-ups, brakes, belts, tires (6th set of tires on it).

Still running with Original O2, MAF, knock sensors.

Now I don't drive it a lot so it will take another 2-3 years before it will hit 300K.

I am at 69,000 kilometers which is around 30,000 miles. Plan to keep it until around 100km then trading it in.

getting close to 90k so far not a drop of oil eaten between oil changes. (knocking on wood)
I think VQ is the best engine nissan made so far. Otherwise, nissan wouldn't utilize it so widely. BTW My brother's 97 maxima w/over 160k runs better than my I30 but he has 5spd.

I used to have a 91 9000CD! Great cars arent they?

Anyway, Welcome to the VQ club. I'm sure you will get many joyous miles out of your I30.

Only thing replaced so far was AC Blower motor and sway bar links.(All covered under warranty).
Brakes are squeaking but I'm going to change that soon.
Looking for to keeping this car for 5yrs or 200,000, which ever comes first.

glad to see a 02 i35 with so many miles. The best of all is that people still bid on it.

I have an '02 Maxima with 184k miles on it. I just replaced the MAF recently and a couple of weeks ago, I replaced the struts and springs. The car runs very strong with no sign of that engine going to quit anytime soon. I expect to get at least 300k on that engine before I look for a new car. No smoke or leaks at all on my '02.

I'm around 105k, with 5k on rebuilt tranny and 40k on DE-K engine, so I plan on going well above 200k. This car won't leave my possession unless it's totaled or stolen (crosses fingers).

Hello All,
I have a 98 I30 purchased 3/05 from a Tow-yard for $2,500. When purchased, it had roughly 160,000 miles on it. It now has 198,000 miles and is running strong. I am a big fan! I've had no major problems at all! Because it runs the same as it did 40,000 miles ago, I'd say it will be around for a while.

After putting 200K on my 3rd Gen Max, I look for more of the same on my I30

Bought my 3rd Gen Max when it had 103K and went on to put an another 200K before selling it and buying my 1998 I30 w/ 108K.

After two years, I've put 30K on it, and I plan on keeping it, like forever...even if I could afford a new car sometime in the future.

...and you'll get it, for sure! By the time I sold my '92 w/ 303K, I pretty much replaced all of the things that wore out -- except for the engine and tranny. However, at 300K, the automatic started slipping in 2nd gear, and I had to have it rebuilt.

After that, I could have easily put another 100K on it. The engine was indestructible. And, though I love my 1998 I30 as much as my beloved Max, the Max was a bit more fun to drive because it loved to be pushed to the limit, and it kept wanting more (if that makes any sense).

Just turned 207,500 on my 97 i30t. Replaced the starter today for the first time,, otherwise, 2 alternators, 1 battery, rotors, brakes, knock sensor and o2 sensor. everthing still works, including the sunroof. its still in such good shape, id put in a rebuilt engine and/or tranny if needed and drive for 10 more years...

I bought my 96 I30 with 165000 on the clock (broken odometer btw, so who knows the true mileage), and it lasted 4 years before a shop messed up a water pump job and screwed my car. These cars last if you put in a little effort.

25K is awesome!

I'm on here again looking for a fix to the oh-so-famous "my Maxima won't start" problem.

Mines a '00 sittin right at 116K. This is the first true "broke down" problem I've had. I've encountered the usual: MAF, CV Axles, alternator, and dead starter.

I think I mentioned elsewhere I wanted to get 200K out of it, but I'd be happy with 175K.

97 i30- we had it with 80k on the clock, it just turned to 129k. just upgraded suspension and she runs like a champ. i might do a 5spd tranny swap for the hell of it.

my father picked up an immaculate 00 i30t with 48k

I just rolled over on 190K miles. 200K here we come.

She's falling apart though lol, been through a lot. And the previous owner (father) treated it like trash, so it's hard for me to keep her in good shape while on a budget

96 I30 -with 172k - just bent a rod thanks to replacement "refurbished" injector sticking open and causing hydro lock of the cylinder - and hence the bent connecting rod. Anyone have this happen, or fixed a bent rod? Lastly, i know there is a thread here about VQ35DE swap into a 96-99 maxima/I30 - anyone know of a step by step, or parts list needed for this swap? or should I fix the rod?

p.s. Ran fine until the injector stuck open. damn - and so i bought a newer G35 and still want to keep my baby. (I30)

My '01 just hit 169k, got it at 132k, one owner, and still is smooth and quiet. Most I've done is change the front bearings and put the 03 g35 sedan rims on it. I'll be rocking it till the wheels fall off 200k+

I am at 190k and have had since 40k. Besides suspension, brakes, and fluid changes, I have replaced the MAF, one ABS sensor, and the starter and alternator. I've been looking for a replacement for several months but used car prices are inflated right now and there is a lot of junk on the market so I'm in no hurry to buy.
