i was in my friends clean i35 yesterday, so surprised it had 145k miles on it and still rode pretty swiftly.

 

1999 I30LE @ 130,000 miles, half of which from the last 3 years. Replaced just about everything that's known to go wrong: Alternator, CV joints, spark plug coils, starter, a couple sensors, etc.

Suspension is a bit shot. Looking for a sporty suspension that doesn't ride too harsh.

I'm saving up for a 300ZX while playing the waiting game for the right configuration I want to come on the market.

My tranny is shifting hard right now. If it's just a solenoid and the tranny isn't bad then I'm guessing 200k miles unless I get my Z car before then. If my tranny goes out I'll pick up some 180/200/240SX beater until then.

 

I have a 2000 I30 @ 120,000 miles. I've replaced Coils, Plugs, Sway bar end links and Alternator. I plan to keep the car untill it dies

 

right now im at 114k i really wanna get my car to about 250k miles and ill be satisfy with it theres so much more i wanna do

 

Recently ripped the 3.5 out to re seal, and did new LCAs sway bars bushings/links, cattman header back, JICs, BBMAF. Puttin on Super RSes this week. Just ordered all the crap for the lower rad support and picked up a new bumper support and brackets since the current are bent..
So.. yeah, a lot more than the 185k I have now.

 

Mine is sitting at 193,000 right now, runs great. I am hoping to run it to 250,000. I store it in the winter so I am guessing that is going to take me a while.

Since like 185k, I see that the engine is revving up almost to 4000 rpm while in first gear ... If I remember, it used to go only up to 3000 or 3200 rpm before. The muffler may go down any time, it survived almost 10 yrs in snow belt states, but now it's been in california for the past 2-3 yrs ... New muffler is on the way and should get it installed next week some time.

 

My original plan was to go to maybe 120,000 before selling mine (I'm at 96,000) but I've decided to part with it early. Not because I don't like the car I just want something different and perhaps larger. Now I'm just hoping someone in my area wants it.

 

I drive my '03 about 3-4K miles a month commuting. Just crossed over 161K. Had a busy maintenance weekend... battery ( was original), belts, front brakes, flushed PS and Tranny fluids, air cleaner, wipers. In the last 6 months did struts and a muffler. The muffler was a surprise. This car was in NY for 3 years before I bought it. For the Southern cars I have owned in the last 30 years, never replaced an exhaust part due to rust. Seems like I did them every winter growing up in Western NY.

Anyway, the I-35 is rolling along. Any prognosis on when to expect things like alternator, water pump, compressor, timing chains? The car does 150 miles a day at 70-80 mph commuting, but no drastic revs or shifts. I'm hoping to keep this around another 80K miles ( 2 years). Overall the car has been great, just routine maintenance. There is a lot to be said for paid for and running. 8)

I was thinking about this thread today. Just crossed 186K. Still running great. I did have to replace the radiator a month or 2 ago, first major failure. So about 7 months at 25K more miles.

I replaced my alternator and starter at about 130k, so it should be pretty soon. Speaking of starter, it depends on how ofter you start your car. I delivered pizzas for 6 months and was starting car about 40 times a day.

 

After getting this transmission issue we have I plan on going well over 150k with this car. I love it.

 

engine should be good for at least 200k

 

im at 100k plus hoping to reach at least 200k without any problem had a couple problem but basic stuff like sensor, starter etc>..

 

This year has been expensive for repairs and maintenance. I am at 122k and had to do front wheel bearings, cam sensors, struts, brakes, and evap canister. When problems arise one after the other like this I start to shop around for a new car. Unfortunately (depending how you look at it) there is really nothing out there I like. The engine and trans are in great shape and I have no rust so I figure another 2 years I will sell at 145k.

 

My '99 i30 Limited has 178k as I type. Now, the antenna mast is not working, power steering resevoir hoses are leaking and a/c bearing is making a high pitch sound. Nothing really major is wrong with it just normal wear and tear.
Even if I have spend 2 to 3k dollars to make it in tip top shape, is all good to me. Specially, if I can keep it for another 2 to 3 years.
In my mind, there is now way I'll be able to find a 12 + year old car like mine in its current condition.

 

I treated my 96 i30 well - replaced the water pump, new struts, new axles and at 175,000, gave it to my daughter. She wrecked it and her wise husband "traded it in" on a new perpetual car loan. I was sad but didn't tell her that I would have loved to have that car back so I could jack the parts off and use them to keep something else. I smiled and said "thats nice honey" - I've practiced that a lot.

 

96 i30, wp done by nissan,alt,ac comp,belts,air cleaner box(all those tubes),batt,plugs,2coils,2inject,cps,idler pull,both frt strut assem,tie rods in&out, bought at 153k now 165k plan on getting 265k

 

My 98 i30 ran for 230K... Aside from replacing the alternator, starter, radiator, coil packs, injectors, boots & bellows and other maintenance stuff due to normal wear & tear, it has served me very well.

I dropped it with a set of Eibachs & KYBs and put in a FTSB, which made handling really good & responsive. Also threw in a JWT pop-charger & keep everything under the hood spotless. I get a lot of compliments on its nice stance & driveability.

But when the engine is toast, that's it! It is in the shop now getting a JDM engine below 50K miles. The mechanic was highly recommended to me by very close friends. Heck, I got this car used back in 02 with 62K on it already! Tranny still runs smooth but I will replace the fluid when i get it back. The body is still in very good & quiet shape aside from a few panel squeaks that I can fix and the interior is always clean.

I should get it back later this week and if the new engine performs well, I will install a Warpspeed Y.

As an addition to my previous post, now I'm sitting at 31,xxx miles. Should have a while to go. Have a check engine light (cleared and came back on) for P0158, so I should be replacing that sensor soon, as long as the code is the same as last time. Probably will do a tranny drain and refill in the spring to make sure everything stays well. Probably won't be worth it to get rid of the car after I'm out of college (freshman now).

 

I'm hoping for 250k but it just needs to get me through the next couple of years *fingers crossed*

Still at 171k, b/c I need to finish gettin my license cleared >.O

 

Oh, and I hope to get another 80k-100k out of her

 

My son's roommate had one of these (2001 I30)

It went until 220k before the tranny failed. He sold it to a mechanic. Nice car -

As long as no major engine and tranny problem going to run it till it dies.

 

2003 with 74k on the OD.. The car is now paid for so i'm milking that cow to pay off some bills.. As long as she can ride safely and comfy around 75-80 I'm satisfied.

 

Have a 2000 I30t with 133,000 on it bought and paid for,I plan on getting close to 300,000 miles out of it, these cars can go the distance.

I have 156k on my 99 I30. All the regular maintenance items all seems to fail about the same time on my car at 130k miles (4k worth). Everything is running good now, I just have rusty fenders. I am hoping to get some maintenance free miles out of my car, I drive about 25k miles a year, it would be nice to get a 200k out my car with minimal repairs. If I have to keeps fixing things like I have the last year; I will probably get rid of it sooner than later.

I am not a drive it into the ground type of person, I am too picky to let minor problems go.

 

ive got 73000 on my 99 i30. replaced the knock sensor ,battery, tires , pads , and rotors . runs better then most brand new cars. i think this car should last 300k

I'm at 115,xxx and that car will probably last me an eternity. I barely put more than 5K on it a year...

 

I have a 2001 I30t bought it around 133k in September about to hit 140 around now I love it did some modifications to it like lights radio sub woofer with the stock system. changed the alternator pre cats and soon o2 sensor and changed the power sterring pump and rods oil changed nothing major


although its been accident (dad was driving) frame was bent but didnt kept me down it still runs strong but the Suzuki valita was a total lost lol

 

I'm at 208,000 miles on my '01 i30, just got it for 2400 from an as is dealer, kind of a steal considering it was mostly highway miles, and only needed $600 of work, brake work. It runs perfectly, no ticking, knocking or any strange sounds coming from the engine.

 

Have had my i35 since august 2011 and have been maintenance free since which is fantastic considering I'm @ 201k.

 

I have 122k ony 2003 i35 It haf 97k wen I bough it I have headers, nwp spacers, and all u can put in a i35 I race onit like there is no tomorow and still having had any problems wit the motor, still strong

 

I bought my 2000 with 137,xxx on it and it has 212,xxx on it now. It start smoking quite a bit on start-up soon after I bought it. Since I've owned it, I've rebuilt the transmission, replaced the starter, high pressure power steering line, new brakes, new struts, new headlight bulbs. The engine has developed some major oil leaks and smoke pours off of it from the oil burning off. The paint has worn off the side mirrors and the clear coat is faded on the roof. Even though the struts were replaced about a year ago, the suspension is starting to feel really loose. The engine also intermittently runs extremely rough. Also, the CD player in the Bose head unit has quit working, the buttons for the memory seat fell down into the door, the driver's side window is about dead and the brake rotors I replaced a year ago have already warped (you get what you pay for). I'm really debating whether to fix it or trade it in on a new car for my wife and take over her 2002 Altima that has half the miles and is in much better shape.

 

damn thats a lot to go wrong..im at 210,000 now and ive looked at previous records for my 01 i30 and its never had even close to half those problems lol, you might as well go for the newer car though

 

I'm approaching 210k plus, and it's starting to show it's age. Got my 97 I with 150, and it was pretty well taken care of, service records etc. Since owning it, I've replaced the alternator, starter, struts, valve cover gaskets, resealed oil pan, crank seal, misc o rings for sensors. Saved myself quite a bit of money, and with the help of numerous connections I'm still running strong.

But, many junkyard parts are starting to shine through.
Radiator is original, top tank cracked this week. I think the original alternator diodes are going out now. But all in all I do expect another year or so. Maybe 20k more before some major overhauls are needed.

 

I'm hoping to see 200k+ on my 2000 I-30 (has 107k now). I retired my previous vehicle, '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0, at 241k due to reoccurring PCM problems. I hope the I-30 can top the Jeep.
