Ok, I know that the science isn't exact and alot depends on maintenance costs and reliability, but since my car is getting "up there" in mileage I was wondering what other owners were thinking as to "how many miles are too many"??
FYI - approaching 150K of relatively trouble free miles (if you count O2 sensors, MAF, brake pads/rotors, tires as regular maintenance items)

Couldn't tell you on mileage...I'm now over 100k and really have no problems of which to speak.
I've done suspension (for my own benefit, nothing wrong)
Rotors/pads have had to be replaced (upgrade to 6th gen hardware seems to have fixed that)
Tires - normal.
I did have a wheel bearing and hub go bad, but the dealership covered that under goodwill, so it's been a relatively trouble free 100k. I'll probably keep it for another 2.5-3 years (and however many miles that entails) until I'm out of law school when I'll buy something else.
In short, I don't think 200k+ miles is too much to expect out of these vehicles.

I'm at ~78k right now, only had the car about 6 mos. My last car, an 88 Subaru went 280k before completely losing compression, and using a quart of oil a week, still turns over, but won't run. My 84 Isuzu Diesel P'up got to 185k then died of a blown head gasket.
I hope to get the same kind of miles from my I30t. With proper maintenance, 200k shouldn't be unreasonable.

I'm at 22,xxx right now and going to keep the car for another 2-3 years as opposed to getting a new car for graduation as planned. So by that time, I will prob have 45,000 miles on it when I sell.
I have 86,xxx now, and I plan to keep it for another 3-4 years. I'm averaging 20-25k miles a year, and I expect it to last.

I'm at ~55K on my 01 I30. I'll probably keep it until it's dead, which is hopefully not for another 5-6 years. Once its paid off maybe I can trade in my wife's Saturn for something new. I haven't had any major problems with it so far...got a 80K mile b2b warranty on it so hopefully stuff breaks before then.

My GF has a 96 I-30 with 170,000 on the clock.
It just started stalling unexpectedly from time to time, so I did a search on the boards and will try a few of those recommendations. Other then that the car seems solid.

I'm at 140k right now. The only thing i've had to is AC bearing (I don't even use the AC during the summer, they're windows for a reason) and also my drivers side seatbelt wouldnt retract
But other than usual matienence i.e. brakes, tires, oil, etc. Absolutley no problems at all. And I plan on driving it till well on 200k As you can tell from my 5 spd. swap i am currently doing. I also plan on a3.5 liter swap in the near future. Jap cars for life!!!!!!

I'll run it to 200K (147 now) and then probably look for something else.
I did the sunroof fix, (Cefiro headlights after a fender bender) & CV joints. That's it aside from routine maintenance. Gotta get a new radio though...

i'm searching for something new, but i dont really know what i want, so i'll just keep on driving what i have
i've got squeaks and a broken sunroof and bad ball joints, but we keep it movin anywayz....

If you ever want to tackle that sunroof, come on down and we'll knock it out in a few hours. The ball joints are a bit beyond my specialty but if you know what you're doing, I'll tackle mine @ the same time. We'll even put you up if you need.

At 43k right now, and it better last for another 100k because I still owe like 14k on it

Mine just turned 144,000 the other day. Hoping to run it at least another 100,000. No issues yet, just the usual maintenance, like everybody else mentioned.

I have 95,000 on mine. No problems at all. Like MetaOrbit, I plan on keeping mine until I'm out of law school (2 more years). My commute to school is 35 miles one way so I anticipate piling on the miles over the next few years.

I might have to take you up on that.....I've had the sunroof kit in my closet for too many months already...and i've never done ball joints but i'm willing to try, gotta learn by doing
it worked with my axles/starter/alternator/wiring etc etc

I have only replaced the brakes, serviced the transmission and used amsoil in the engine. oh and those damn o2 sensors. I plan on 250 easily.

I have replaced the ECM,IGnition coils,MAF sensor(while under warranty).I have replaced starter and spark plugs.I plan on getting 300K on mine.

My 99 maxima was at about 130k strong.. replaced starter, egr valve, driving belt. You know all the usual maintenance stuff. But still can't figured out how to get the check engine light to go off after replaced the egr valve.
Now I have '04 I35 500cc bigger got 53k miles now hoping to drive it until it die. haha I told myself that in my previous car also.

I'm at 30K on my '02 I35 and plan on 200K +. Drove an 86 Cougar 242K and it was running good when I gave it away (who's gonna buy a car with these miles?). Retired now, so the miles will come a lot slower.

im at 134k and hopefully will see 200k miles out of it ... just had a scary front vibration problem that turned out to be one bad coilpack luckily, i was worried it might be the axle problem ... and i had to replace the radiator once ... haven't touched the brakes ever since I bought it at 96k ... front suspension doesn't seem good but will live with it for some more time ...

haven't really had to replace much, but I also don't drive it during the winter because on cold mornings it's a -itch to keep running. needs a new wheel bearing when I start driving it again, probably look into the o2 sensors. My VW golf had 169000 when I sold it and still gave you a good thrill ride. I expect the sme with this...

My 86 Monte Carlo had 177,000 before I junked it, my 95 Max had 214,000 when the alternator went(she still moved with a jump). I got 139,000 on the I30 as of now, looking to get at least 230,000.

at 173,xxx right now..... put around 100 miles a day on her.... interior is still mint and engine runs great....

I just traded in my I30 at 127k miles. The only thing I had to replace was a battery and alternator. The steering rack started leaking around 125k miles. Still had a good KS and everything. I was really impressed.
I am at 21,xxx on my car right now and I will probably hold on to it until next year August (done with payments). By then, i should have about 3?,??? miles on the car and I might part it out/or sell it if there isn't any new mods (mainly FI or more power mods) out that will keep my interest. Looking to upgrade to a car that I would not have the mod itch for.

I can't see getting less than 200K.
My sentra has 147,000 and I have not had to touch anything on the motor, apart from normal tune up items. I like having the timing chains too, it is one less maint. item to have to worry about (usually).
