My A33 was in the garage when it snowed, so it missed out on the pretty flakes (what a shame!), but the A32 was parked outside and got to feel the snow, so I decided to take some pics.

Nice pics. I'm so glad my A33 is garaged! I went to the manual wash yesterday & hosed her off because she was filthy from all the snow & salt. Its just too cold to wash by hand right now. Hasn't gotten above freezing in like a week.

 

Yeah I haven't been washing my I's either, it's been 3 months for the '00! First it was the rain, and then it got so cold, maybe I should take it to those carwash places, but I haven't seen one that's full hand wash yet, I am scared of those machinese.

About the snow and salt combo, that's only in the east coast right? I am in the west coast, should I remove the snow from the car to protect the paint?

 

Snow won't affect it any more than rain, really.

Salt is what you have to worry about.

F*ckers in TDOT decided to hose the interstate down with brine-solution this afternoon. Totally unnecessary. They seem to forget the we live in TENNESSEE.

(Seriously, no precipitation or road-freezing temperatures in the forecast...at all!)

Oh well. More reason to keep the freshly-washed I in the garage and take the Pathfinder or G35.

I live in New Jersey and have yet to recieve a inch

 

I should be ok, I just get paranoid about little things like that.

I don't know how wet/slippery TN roads get, but I had a hard time driving a RWD vehicle over here, so I would suggest you use the Pathfinder unless the roads are dry.

BTW, anyone know the official color name of my '98? Is it platinum metallic?

Heh, part of the humor of it all is that the roads here just don't get bad. If there's actual snow/ice (once every 5-6 years) everything shuts down for a week anyway.

Oh, and surprisingly, the G35 is pretty capable in slick conditions. Just modulate the pedal, don't panic, and trust in VDC.

 

All these pictures of snow and up until today it has been 50-60 degrees daily in NJ. Feel like I moved to S.C.

 

No matter what happens with the weather, people blame it on 'global warming'...

 

Haha, yeah, it's the first thing that comes to mind.

 

Here in Nebraska they dump alot of sand & salt, so not only do you have to worry about the salt on your paint, but the chunks of sand/gravel that ding up my front bumper & hood! But I suppose thats better than driving around on sheets of ice.

 

They do the same damned thing here in CO. Sand everywhere!!! Sometimes, the yellow lines in the middle of the road are 100% covered over with sand. As soon as you go to pass someone, you can hear the 50,000,000 pebbles flinging all over the car.

 

Why do out cars always melt in that one spot on the hood, i think it lines up with the intake manifold...doesnt make sense to me anyone know why?

 

Isn't it like that for most cars? I think that spot has the least gap between the hood and the engine.

Thermal activity, aka heat.

 

IDOT dumps crazy salt on the roads, even when it doesn't snow. This didn't make sense 'till I worked late one night and drove home. Without the salt on the pavement, all the slush and road grime that's wet during the day re-freezes at night.
And black ice+ pitch black night= Oh SH*!

I'd rather have a filthy car than a broken one.

 

This is true. I've never had a bad experience with black ice yet, but I'm sure there will come a day.

 

Wouldnt the engine be cold as well though?

 

Oh the A32 was started for a few mins, that's why it melted that part.
