Whats the rec. mileage for a water pump
Whats the rec. mileage for a water pump
replacement? MY 2K I30 has 122K and I bel. the waterpump is leaking. Also what else should be replaced if this service is being done. I'm having the P/S AC belt, thermostat and crankshaft seal belt replaced along with the water pump. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

wouldn't even bother with the crankshaft seal unless it's leaking bad and the outer timingcover was off, you don't need to take the main outer cover off to do the waterpump.
I can't see how replacing the front main would be something to do during a water pump replacement. Its not one of those small items that gets replaced "while you're in there"... like belts or a t chain tensioner. Basically, the y pipe, tranny, axles, clutch/ flywheel (or t converter/flexplate), and the main oil pan have to be removed in order to PROPERLY replace both the rear and front main seals.

the front main isn't like the rear main, it's just a conventional seal in the outer timing cover, no upper oil pan bs to deal with, there is still a front oil pan seal though and if anything that one will leak well before the front crank seal, but everything else i30ds said is spot on, the main oil-pan seals (front and rear) and rear-main is a pita job for sure, and regardless the front crank seal is still alot more extra work than just doing the waterpump
