I35 question

At my favorite parts yard in MO they have a wrecked 02 I35 with 60k on it. The owner will sell it for $4500, he thinks it may cost 5 to 6k to fix it right. What do you guys think? Its silver, the body is perfect, it was hit up front so it will need a new front bumper, hood, lights, radiator and possibly some engine work. The airbags deployed too. I'm thinking of getting it for my son and selling the Volvo he's driving now, it looks just like the Maxima inside except it has different seats, clock and the walnut wood trim. Would you pay $10k for an 02 I35 with 60k miles on it?

ummmmmmm. YES, I debated picking up an 00/01 maxima 5mt with 80k and similiar damage for $3800, $4,500 isn't bad at all but you should DEFINITLY wave $3750 cash in there face and walk away if they don't take it, go back in a week again.

Since this is the upscale part of our forum, correct grammatical usage should be mandatory.

But yes, definitely pick that one up.

I'm not sure what part of town you are in, but you can find pretty decent unwrecked cars (2002 I35) for around the price that you are looking for ($10,000). Is the title on the car a salvage title now? i dunno. i don't like salvage titles much. just my 2 cents. good luck!

thats what i was thinkin. if its been totaled then it would be a salvage title, which are hard to insure. don't know if the rules are different in ks though.

.. salvage title..

dont count on resale, what motor work needs to be done?
also have a professional that you are close with check it out. cause if there is major chasis damage the car might drive crooked etc. just a warning.

but if you have "connections" that will help you get cheep labor .. then its agood buy.. but make shrue about engine damage.

rebuild I35

i would not recommend buying that 02 I35 from a junk yard or crashed car. your going to be opening a costly can of worms!!!

Not worth it. You could probably find a NON salvage title car for only a couple thousand more...

+1. Each new airbag is like a thousand, a module should be like another thousand. You CAN'T buy this things used because it will not pass DMV inspection. You'll regret it. I've been there. Trust me!
