Ignitition Coil Help

Took my 2000 I30 to a nissan dealership (closest Infiniti is 60 miles away in another state) after it started misfiring and it kicked out the dreaded "bad coil" code. Dealer wants $300 to replace JUST ONE.

Questions:
1) Dealer says there are only 3 coil packs for the 2000 I30, is that correct?
2) I've got moderate mechanical skillz and my bro is good at this stuff, so this is something we should be able to replace ourselves right?
3) Where do I find a good deal on coil packs?

Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

sup man had the same prob. with the I30. easy to do by yourself. to be sure, go to auto zone to let them run the diagnostic test for free and let them look up the code.
check out everythingnissan.com for the parts. suggestion - buy all 6 and change them one time.

Wow it's literally been 17 years since I started this thread lol. Anyways, yah iirc it's the same engine as the Maxima, the VQ30DE.

just go to rockauto for the best prices, but only buy OEM/made in Japan though
If you want to isolate the issue, just switch 2 packs from 2 cylinders, if the misfire code moves to the other cylinder now, bingo, if you're cheap just buy 1, if the other are fine why replace?
