question about power loss on 2000 i30
the other day i was driving on the highway and noticed that my car would not go past 30mph no matter how hard i pushed the gas pedal down. and yes i was in drive. so i had the car towed to my mechanic. when he drove the car he found nothing wrong. im assuming the problem went away. anyone know what this could be? has this happen to anyone? and i thought at first it was the tranny but the car has 72k on it and the problem aparently went away at least for now but i would like to know if anyone has any ideas.

Throttle position sensor.. Even though your car isnt drive by wire a TPS can cause this issue.. The more I think of it though I doubt this would be causing such a dramatic difference all of a sudden.. Keep searchin the 5th gen threads for sudden power loss.. Issues range from bad cats, fuel pump going, injectors getting clogged, but your issue sounds electrical since it suddenly happened then stopped.

alrighty then so friday my mechanic took the car home and the check engine light came on popped a code for tranny speed control sensor. there you were absolutly correct electrical it is. but damn I didn't even that sensor existed. thanks for the info. I really appreciate that.
