I drove to school 3 hour away and about 15 away the transmission wouldn't shift into fourth. I was doing 80 with my rpm's at 4,000. I got to school and opened the hood to see that some tranny fluid sprayed all the way up into the intake box. I filled it about two weeks ago and haven't seen any leaking under the car. I took it out on the highway yesterday and the car rode fine. Shifted into all the gears without any problems. My questions is, could it be a serious problem? I was thinking maybe one of the seals broke but I haven't seen and fluid leaking and the levels have stayed at the same rate. What should I do?

Only way for tranny fluid to spray into engine bay is the tranny breather hose. And that would only spray fluid if there was too much fluid aka too much pressure.

How much fluid did you add?

 

I didn't add it, had a friend do it while I was in class. I think it was a pretty significant ammount. There was a pool of the fluid in the splash guard.

 

Then most logical explanation is your friend added too much fluid, might want to ask how much exactly he added.

 

you may just want to check the dipstick with the engine running after have shifted the car through the gears manually several times.

 

He filled it after it started leaking. There was a pool under the hood when I opened it no longer than 20 minutes after I realized there was something wrong.

 

It ended up being the gasket in the transmission pan. Going to get it checked out tomorrow.

 

that will be ok if its gasket pan coz u can reseal it( I think the labor will be about $300? my engine gasket was leaking last time and i paid $300 for the repair), but how it was possible to spray all the way up into the intake box?
