Hi, My 2000 I30 (97k) was great until this afternoon. I got home and turned off the ignition. I got off to hear something running under the hood (not the fans).. Its sounds like some pump running.... I waited for 10mins it won't stop. I strted, drove, stopped and it still does the same. I don't seem to hear it when the car is running, but may be the car noise is covering it up.

Tried pulling fuses one by one and when I pulled Eng control2 fuse, it stops. If I remove the -ve terminal of battery it stopped and it comes back as soon as I connect it. The radiator fans seem to be working perfectly fine.

Anyone, Please help!! Anybody ever had a similar problem?

Thanks a lot.

I think I remember reading on the Org that when the electronic motor mounts start to go bad that you hear a sound of "something running" after the car is turned off.

Try searching for "motor mounts" and see what comes up. If so, I think you can unplug the mounts and see if the sound goes away.

Thanks. I posted this on maxima forum and got similar reply. Does anyone know exactly how bad is this in terms of driving? Am I supposed to get it fixed asap without any driving at all? or could I drive a few miles?

Thanks.
