I35 grill

Well, almost all I30 owners want the I35 grill, I found a site that sells a OE replica for pretty cheap but without a logo. Check it out.

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...QQI070104.html

This still needs the logo, but since I found this, I'm having second thoughts about changing my grill.

The Infiniti emblem must be purchased separately, even when buying an OEM grill new, so no biggie there.

I second that. I have a silver 03 i35 with that grill in black. I like it better than the chrome ones I see. Will try to post a pic if I can figure out how to do it.

Tried to paste the image. I think the function is disabled since I'm a newbie. Maybe after a few more posts I'll be able to.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but how is this grille different from a normal i35 grille? the website color says it's dark brown and gray, but it looks like just a normal chrome grille in the pic

Isn't that a regular un-painted grill tho.

The grille looks like a good idea... I have an 01 I30, I've been looking to transform the my baby into an I35, and I came across several links:

This one claims to be only $40!!:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...431962k1006685

Another question, btw, sorry for off-topic, but I found a local guy on craigslist and he's selling me the grille and two I35 taillights (you know, the ones in the trunk)... I know that they shouldn't fit, but is there any chance to change some part of the trunk? You know, the one in the middle, with the license plate on it, or do I have to change the entire trunk door?? The guy's giving me a good deal of $150 total for everything... He is actually in NY right now, so if it doesn't work out for me, I can leave his email, I guess he wouldn't mind it...
But what do you guys think, how difficult is it to transform I30 into I35 (at least, outside )

^ Thats a good price on the grill. As for the taillights, all you need is the middle trunk (license plate) plastic part. You don't need to change the whole trunk, it should be a easy swap.

Anyone know where to buy the emblem, also are these grills chrome, or brown (unpainted)? - I'm new to the forums and after googling for 45 minutes can not find a single place that sells OEM I35 grills with the emblem or the emblem itself, besides whats listed of course.

edit: you can get em on ebay for close to 30$ anyone find one for cheaper than that?

I think its the same color as the I35 ones. Anyways, it would probably look nicer painted blackish(depending on the color of your car.)

I was under the impression that the I35 ones were chrome or atleast the same color as the one on my 01 I30? could you clearify that please. As I said I'm new to the car but in my opinion the 35 grill looks a million times better. Also Trademotion.com has the emblems for $27, for anyone looking.

also this would just bolt on to a 2001 I30 right? just the four bolts to the hood, pop old one off pop new one in, put the four bolts back?

Yea, its direct bolt-on. The grill isnt really chrome like the I30, its more of a shinny paint thing, can't explain.

If anyone knows where to get a Gold infiniti emblem for I35 grill, let me know... Or if you want to trade your gold one for a brand new chrome one.

PM me or email me

Closer to a "black chrome" if anyone's familiar with that finish.

Will still chip like paint though

Sorry for reviving this ancient thread, but I just bought one of these inexpensive grilles from rockauto.com. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it. I was a little nervous because it was so cheap compared to OEM but it looks fine and seems sturdy. My only minor issue would be that the chrome seems a little lighter than the OEM ones I see around. I could just be imagining that though and it may look right once I get it on the car. Currently waiting on an emblem. I'm thinking about painting it black (my I30 is black as well).
Here are a few photos:

EDIT: Alright, I got antsy and decided to put it on. It took quite a bit of coercing to get it fit right. First of all, there is a bit of a gap between the grille and the hood. Might try to find some weather stripping to fill it in. More annoyingly, though, is that one of the screws was misaligned. Like the OEM grille, the screws slide into little pillars on the back of the grille. Unlike the OEM grille, the pillars are made of plastic and the screw is just wedged in there. One of them was not quite pushed in far enough and no amount of pushing or pulling could move it. After some (careful) tapping with a rubber mallet it came out, but I could not get it to go back in all the way. The grille is now held on with one less screw. Not ideal, but at least its on there. The chrome does indeed look a little bright and I think it would look 100 times better painted black, but that is a project for another day.

Yeah, just ordered an emblem for $34 on ebay. The chrome is sort of growing on me; I'm sure it will look better with the emblem.

Welcome

Here's the link to the one I ordered, Part# IN1200106:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=1384

And while I'm at it, here is the grill installed. I'm satisfied overall. The gap on the sides is ever so slightly larger but not at all noticeable like I previously thought. Definitely worth the $42.

Not a fan of the humongous Infiniti logo. Its pretty big in ratio to the size of the grille itself.

Yeah, I still like this grill over the regular I30 one, but the chrome seems a bit brighter than the OEM ones I see around. I'm thinking about painting it black. I've seen this done a few times before, mostly on silver I30/35s. Not sure how it would look on black. Any opinions?

Looks nice.

Im going to order one also from rockauto and put it on my metallic green i30. Question...i am assuming that the grill already comes with the chrome finish and you do not have to paint it? Also, do you believe there will be issues with the fitting on everyones i30, or was your grill that you purchased just a little mis-aligned?

Also, anyone with opinions on success with emblems bought off ebay, or should i go with some above mentioned sites for ordering the emblem.

thanks

Sorry it's not a close up....only a cell phone pic, but here's what I got after throwing the i35 grille from rockAuto.com only my i30. I got the emblem off eBay for about 37 bucks.

The "Gap" everyone speaks of is only really noticeable because the hood surface that is revealed by the new grille was once covered by rubber weather stripping. A little polishing compound/wax will remove the old residue and get it looking clean in a matter of minutes.

If any of you have questions or would like some closer pictures or anything, just PM me.
