ZOMFG!! They finally made a Metra Kit for the A33 I30/I35???
Get a good 2 way, with glass sensors & tilt/motion sensors. Tinted windows (will induce tickets), fake H/U cover to hide it or get a DDIN with a detachable face (AVIC U310BT)..
That and park your car somewhere safe. Thats about all you can do.

Brarada, thanks for your input. I have been waiting so long for them to make a kit that eliminates the poor fit of the other "universal" kits, I went ahead and ordered one of these.
A Metra CSR confirmed they don't make a single din direct fit kit, so he recommended I use nissan pocket, P/N 88-00-9000, found it at Amazon for $6.98 http://bit.ly/aPSE6E
Does anyone know if this harness is the correct one to use with the bose system (no navigation)? http://bit.ly/a85cZc

Amp Integration Harness Metra Part 70-7550 as shown here:
Metra Part 70-7550
This harness is all well and good, but it is taking the raw power signal from your headunits internal amp and sending it to the BOSE amplifiers. This harness is geared for aftermarket headunits without 4 sepaker preamp out jacks. This method will work, BUT, you get alot of distortion because it's a high level signal. TOO much signal produces distortion, too little signal will prevent the volume from reaching a decent level. As I said before, this will work, but you will get a crappier signal.
Method 2:
Amp integration Harness Metra Part 70-7551
Metra Part 70-7551
This harness is the best harness you can get. This harness utilizes the low level RCA preamp outputs of your new headunit to produce a clear signal to your BOSE amplifiers. With this harness you bypass your headunits internal amplifier and use only the preamp outs. This method supplies the proper amount of signal to eliminate distortion presented by direct amplifer hookup like with the Metra 70-7550.

If it's 2v or so, then you might consider the PAC ROEM-NIS2, and plug the speaker level rather than the preouts. (word is that Crutchfield has a good deal on these).
(according to this thread: http://forums.maxima.org/audio-elect...installed.html )
FWIW, when I visited a local car audio shop Saturday they confirmed in their system that the 7551 was the harness they use for Infiniti i35s, so either of these solutions should work.
Thanks Sloanie, good information. I should have clarified that I wanted to make sure the harness was compatible with the power side of the car's harness.
I will be removing the Bose amp and speakers and run new wiring to the new aftermarket speakers. I cant wait to ditch the factory 6-disc...it's never played a disc without skipping.

Thanks, Dingleberry, I have thought of some of those suggestions also. DO you think a double din with a detachable face will be stolen if the face is removed? Or will they not bother? I have thought of making a false face for the radio. There is a link in the 5th gen section about someone that did this.

+1 on PAC ROEM-NIS2. It works. Its a sad I am phasing my NIS2 out. May sell considering offers. No HU power for me, all pre amps. If your going to replace a bose, do it right or use pac. I can say with PAC, my system sounded great. As for tint, I have had 5%-20% in last 10 years and have never been messed with. Don't drive stooopid or call attention to your self and you'll be fine.
Good to know. I just shot them an e-mail asking about availability-- their site says that if something out of stock that they'll let you know, but I haven't gotten any notification to say the item is out of stock. Wonder if their CS will be of any use at all...
Am I impatient enough?
Am I impatient enough?
I ordered mine on Tuesday the 22nd, nothing yet. Thought about calling CS but TRYING to be patient, lol.
BTW, I'm thinking of painting this to match my tan interior. I haven't done a search yet on painting interior parts but if anyone has experience with that please sound in.

I'll be interested to see if yours actually shipped. It really is twice as expensive to get it at installer.com.

Yup i called Metra a few days ago and they said 2-2 1/2 weeks. They had (at the time) 131 of these kits on back order lol...go figure.
The rep from Metra that I spoke to also said that within a month of releasing these they'd provide the option to get it in any color/trim, such as black/tan/grey or even CF (id assume its not real CF).

thanks everyone for the updates, I was hoping to receive this sooner but hope to have it in hand within a couple weeks. I am surprised to hear they might offer it in other colors, hmmmm.
"Yes, this is a dark charcoal , I enclosed a pic.. We have just gotten a new water transfer machine and will be able to do about anything on them soon. We will be offering carbon fiber and wood grains for certain cars.. Do you have a special idea in mind ? These special color are probably about 8 weeks out from shipping at least."
I'm fine with a dark gray for my car, that'll match the current trim. But for anyone who's interested in another color / trim...
Wondering if anyone else who ordered this product has heard from onlinecarstereo, sent an email over a week ago and nothing yet.
I always get sent to voice mail when I try to reach customer service.

Wondering the same thing, also bought it from online car stereo. When i called them prior to ordering they had told me that it was in stock, which seems to be false, so still waiting....
Be interested to hear what eventually happens with everyone else's orders.
Wouldn't it be funny if they didnt actually make it yet?? Well, not really for you guys. I have a scefero kit sitting in my closet but its too cold to install a radio. Im looking forward to seeing what it looks like also, because my scefero kit's wood does not match I might eventually get one of these.
I finally got through to customer service at onlinecarstereo.com, they said they are expecting these to start shipping toward the middle to end of March. Keep the updates coming if anyone get's a shipping confirmation.
I called up Installer.com to see what they knew-- they said the part hasn't been released yet (so I have a hard time imagining that onlinecarstereo.com has it in stock). They expect it within the next 2 weeks. Guess I'll be waiting till mid-March to do my install.

Spoke to the local car audio shop today who called Metra directly for me. Evidently they are still in production, and couldn't give us an ETA. I waited about 8 years so I guess a few more months wont hurt :-(
Anybody else had trouble getting a hold of onlinecarstereo? I was on hold for about 22 minutes the other day but I was at work and had to get off the line...
Their website says customer service opens up at 8 am. I called at 8:03 and was on hold until 8:25. I find it a bit hard to believe that they are just incredibly inundated with calls three minutes after opening...

yeah, that's about the same story I got from a Metra rep on wednesday. Something about higher sales than usual and production being overwhelmed and not having any updates on when the kits would be ready to ship. Hoping they show up in the next 2 1/2 weeks...
Just got off the phone with an Onlinecarstereo rep. He stated that they plan to have their shipment arrive at their site this Friday and they should be shipping out on that day.
I am taking it with a grain of salt, but just so you guys know I am only about 45-60 minutes out from their location so if it goes out I should probably receive it within 2 days.
I'll keep you all updated...

I'll probably just bug the same Metra rep this coming Friday to see what, in fact, the word is.
I am so sick of the Bose sub cutting out on me-- it seems to not work most the time, so music sounds like crap. Can't *wait* for this kit to finally show up.
Metra tells me today they still don't have an ETA. I guess their production team says some of the kits will roll out this week, but the sales rep doesn't know which ones (meaning, whether the i35 kit is in the kit that will be ready this week).
