Where to buy knock sensor?

I have a '96 I30 and need a new knock sensor.

I see ebay has a bunch of super cheap knock sensors.

Amazon.com has a wide price range as well.

OEM is around $150.

Do the ebay ones work?

I went with OEM. Paid about $120 with the discount through my car club. Changed mine out earlier today on my 97. Took me about 45 minutes to change. Kinda long because the damn EGR solenoid was in the way.

How did you change yours so quickly? Looks like the intake manifold needs to be removed to get to the knock sensor?

Did mine on my 98 Max a few months ago
Used the cheap ebay one, worked fine as far as i can tell

There are a few good guides over at the 4th gen forums, including 2 youtube videos by pmohr
Take a look at those, you don't need to remove the IM if you use his method

Right. I used a 12mm wrench and my hands. Only thing I had to do was remove the EGR solenoid for a little more room.

Darn, that bolt is on tight! I was going to take the knock sensor out to measure the resistance. The bolt is on too tight and I can't take it off.

I will try to remove the bolt when I get my new knock sensor first.

I bought both of mine from Autopartsway/Europarts ETC. Part number for both matched the original OEM one that came out. I think it was ~$70.

I used a swivel socket to break the bolt loose and a gear wrench to undo a few threads until I could get my hand to unwind the rest. I got my gf to help do it on the I30 recently took about 30 minutes.
