ok if this has bin posted b4 feel free to remove but ok yesterday i was drivng with no problems at all and i just shut off the car for about 2 minutes and the next thing i no it wont start again so i thought a dead battery so i got jumpewr cables and no still nothing it only makes a clicking noise but it wont turn over or even attempt to turn over so what could be wrong...after the heavy snow in dallas a couple weeks back it started to act up and i would get a jump start but now not even a jump is enough..what could be the problem..im goin to get the battery tested and the alternator to at autozone and see what they say (even tho there clueless and give u wrong parts )
mine just went out at 99k on my 99 a32. symptoms sound exactly like the starter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw-ECOC7GUs followed this video helped a lot. you have to jiggle the starter out through the mess of wires and brackets around it.
yep you may be able to start it by hitting on the starter. That happened to my mom hah. My dad came brought a screwdriver and hammer hit the start while trying to start it and it started it. Temporary if you need it.
ok so u jus replaced the starter car turns on perfect but the c.e.l turned on and there was a smell like of gas or something so i go give it a little test run and out of no were my oil light turns and and the car jus shut doen on me..i turn it back on take it home and i notice oil on the ground...wtf? any help?..other than the c.e.l light the car ran perfect....not movin the car in about a week in a half could that be it?
First I would never buy a used starter especially from the yard, unless you don't plan on keeping the car very long, imo it's not worth taking that chance just pay the extra and get a refurb or new and your good with at least a 2 yr to lifetime warranty. my2cents
Anyways as far as teh oil leak I'm assuming you did the install yourself , did you make sure to look over the area thoroughly? I'm trying to remember if there's something oil related on the Starter side but it shouldn't be that hard to find just follow the oil. Is is dripping near the Timing cover area? Bell housing area etc?
