One of my exhaust hangers broke and it keep making a s**tload of noise when I go over bumps. All that happened was that the weld broke holding the hanger onto the pipe. So my friend took it and says we can put a clamp onto the hanger to secure it to the pipe. But I don't know what diameter the pipe is. The hanger is the one right in front of the gas tank. I know the proper way to do it is to weld it back, but with corrosion on the hanger edge, and that I'm a pretty broke college student, this seems to be a good fix for the moment. Thanks!

Here you go man:

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...pipe-size.html

5th Gen = Your I30

So 2-2.25 inch. But If your talking about the exhaust "in general" I have a hunch it's 2.25

Thanks for the info. My friend sent me a pic of how it looks. On the right is the stock mount, which gets welded to the exhaust pipe. The left is the new bracket he made that goes around the pipe

Must have a rusty exhaust for that mount to fall off haha. Pretty nifty to make that bracket, give an update on how it goes! What do you need the dimensions for though, the bracket?

Yea. That ring goes around the pipe so I need to know how big the pipe is to fit the ring around

Well, seems like that mount works perfectly. No rattle anymore every time I go over a hump in the road. And just by the way Joeker82, my friends and I prefer to use the term 'rednecked'

Next failure will be the puny 8-32 screw going thru the isolator! You should've used a larger bolt!

Nothing bad has really happened. No more banging since that now the pipe is being held firmly in place. And it's been on the car for months now
