New I30 owner, suspension question
Hey guys, just purchased an 01 I30t that needs some suspension works. The rear end creaks when going over bumps and kinda bounces around. The front end has the clunk that ive read about from searching.
My plan was to replace all 4 struts and springs and all associated hardware.
Should I do anything else?
It has had most maintenance done but the previous owner stopped at the suspension which is the last piece of the puzzle. Steers perfectly. alignment is perfect. drives great, tight steering, confident at highway speeds, just when going over bumps, rear end creaks. Front end clunks.
Ive checked the hood and it seems to be fine, nothing rattling there from what I can tell.
So any ideas what the creak may be from going over the bumps in the rear? Just bad struts, mounts, springs? etc?
And the clunk in right front, anything there I should consider beside the struts?

My car is a 2001 I30t by the way. I also have a `96 Maxima SE but not having any suspension problems with it because the quick strut assemblies come all together for that car. The strut assemblies for the 2001 I30t have to be disassembled and rebuilt piece by piece. I believe someone on here knows how to keep those spring from moving around. HELP!!!

When I bought my 99 i30 the struts needed replacing bad. I bounced down the road. actually when i first began driving the car, i had motion sickness the first couple days
. I kept putting it off until one day a rear strut gave and I had to get towed. My mechanic replaced the two rear struts and mounts and they squeak and creak. I asked him about it, and he told me that if they are bit dirty, or depending on the way the mounts make contact that they will creak but it is nothing to be concerned about.

well that explains a lot with my car I thought it was rust or something especially the back which I think the calipers are the issue cause there all ready collecting rust which I bought from the damn advance auto parts like 4 - 5 months ago!

If you hear the rattling when you usually on hitting bumps and stuff then it is usually the strut mount's bushing that have been loosened from the actual mount. That's what happened to me. When I looked at the new one and the old one the bushing was not stuck to the mount so we knew it was the strut mount assembly.
