I searched and went through a bunch of threads and didn't find an answer. My alternator went last week, completely seized up. Ended up snapping the belt. Went and bought a new belt and got a new reman alternator from auto zone. My belt squeals on start up. It sometimes squeals when I come to a stop. Sometimes squeals when I roll my windows or put the defrost on. And sometimes just starts to squeal for no reason. My tensioner and idler pulley are good. My ac compressor pulley is good. One thing that I did notice is that before the old belt snapped, it did smoke a little. And I did see some rubber on the grooves of the crank pulley and ac compressor. I managed to scrape quite a bit of it off. Some people were telling me that it shouldn't be an issue. Can anyone help me out with this? I drive about 500 miles a week, most of it for work. I've been spraying the belt with belt dressing and it barely helps.

Forgot to mention, the car is an 01 I30t with about 149K.
