Oil Changes-What Interval?

Guys, I searched and couldn't find a thread like this on the I35 forum. Since I bought my car in October of 2012 I've put 8K miles on. I'd like to know something though, how often should I change the oil?

I've been doing it between 3k and 3.5k miles and it just seems unnecessary. I drive mainly highway and the car is parked inside at night. (It gets cold here in Wisconsin at night). I used regular oil, no synthetic or synthetic blends.

I'm thinking of trying once every 5k who knows may 6K?

So guys, who have the 3.5's, how often do you change your oil?

Since your using dino oil, change it every 4k and you'll be fine.

If my car had low mileage, I would use synthetic every time.
I hear you can just change the filter after 5k add a little more synthetic to cover what you lost from the filter, and go another 5k no problems.

Seeing that the 3.5's tend to burn oil at a rather high rate if not taken care of, I wouldn't go more than 4k miles on regular oil. Even with a synthetic, I wouldn't push it more than 6k. Those motors are oil burners...

^^
The oil burning was a short lived problem with the rings on 2002-2003 Maximas and iirc that isn't a problem with the newer ones.

As far as I knew, that problem lasted with the 3.5's for quite some time. I could be wrong, and I apologize, but I recall reading on a couple other forums with Nissan's that used the 3.5 that had the same issues. Oil changes are probably one of the cheapest preventative maintenance items out there. Do it at reasonable intervals and the car will treat you well in the future.

Since you aren't using any synthetic oil I would recommend you to do oil change every 3 months or 2700 miles which ever comes first.
