What is this exhaust tip

Bought my 98 i30 while back and previous owner had put in a magnaflow exhaust or so he said. I could not find this anywhere and I don't know any mechanics that deal with sporty parts only cheap parts they use so I have no way of finding out what this is and if it does anything special by having those fins on the inside. Please let me know if anyone knows what this is thanks

Looks like a Borla? Search "borla exhaust tips" in Google image search, you'll see what I'm talking about.

I see what you mean but it just makes me think that mine is an imitation of it. It looks very similar and yet not really. Another reason I think mine is like an imitation aside from the fact that the name isn't imprinted on it like other ones from the website are; is the fact that the fin tips are slowly unsoldering or something and make a rattling noise from shaking on low rpms.

Look on eBay and you'll see tons of generic exhaust tips, like the ones I bought. Could just be a rally common design, since an exhaust tip isn't really something that can be so radically different from a slew of others. If it's being annoying you might be able to take it off easily if it's a clamp-on style with a set screw. If it's welded on then it's probably going to be a bit of a hassle. If you do take it off, tips are cheap on eBay. Just get one that fits your muffler exit tips and look for stainless steel as it won't deteriorate to the extend cheap chrome (or other bargain materials) would.

Since it's welded I'm not sure of what you can do if you wanted to change it. Maybe you could cut it off if it's not too far up the muffler exit, or somehow grind the welds, or change the muffler altogether if you wanted and put on your choice of tip. Again, if the tip is fine with you then you can just leave it. I can't really find anything with those weird veins in it (unless it was for some baffle to limit the sound) so I can't put a finger on the brand. O
