My hunch would be no. But I'd have to see pics to be sure.

The 2 cars use the same starter, part number 23300-2Y900.

For the 2002, there is a 2nd starter used. For years, the starters were made by Hitachi but Infiniti also started using a starter by Mitsubishi as well. It may look a little different but it is interchangable. The Mitsubishi starter part number is 23300-5Y710.

If this is true it must be automatic specific.

The Hitachi starter part # 23300-2Y900 is listed for both the auto and stick transmissions.

But there is a different Mitsubishi starter for the 2 transmissions.
Part number 23300-5Y710 is listed for auto trans.
Part number 23300-5Y715 is listed for standard trans.

I have no idea what the difference would be.

Since I have never done this swap/interchange, I cannot argue that I am right. If someone feels strongly that my information is wrong, then I will not contest it.

Guess what I'm going off of is that when going from auto to manual for a 6 speed swap, I know you have to use a manual starter.
Something about the way the flywheel is spaced.
