Aftermarket Subwoofer

Aftermarket Subwoofer
So, I have a wiring kit, subwoofer, and amp that I may just throw in my car. My issue is that I for the love of god cannot get my shift plate off, there are four metal clips and I can get two, then I start on the others and they just manage to push the first two back down. It's frustrating me to high hell.
Does anybody have any recommendations or ideas for me? I've been trying for hours to no avail.

Okay, so an update:
I've got a 15" sub and a really nice Kicker amp.
I took the wires from the harness that went to the OEM subwoofer amp and hooked everything up with my new setup but all I get is a complete cut in sound and no power to the amp I also have a pioneer that a buddy gave me and we got power to that except no sound there either. None from the regular speakers even.
I can post photos if needed.

You are working with a Bose system unless someone has already changed it our. Bose is not use the audio standards that everything else uses. The main thing that Bose does is use a very low signal output from the radio/head unit. This might be below the minimum input level for the kicker, I don't know.
However, you are saying that you don't have any power to the Kicker amp. Where did you try to get power from? The Bose woofer gets its power from a 15 amp fuse located under the hood by the battery. If you used this wire, how many amps does the Kicker amp draw?
Here's the colors and usage for the wires to the Bose woofer amp. There are 5 wires.
This is based on a 2002 i35:
solid white - audio +
solid black - audio -
green/white stripe - woofer on/off
solid red - 12 volts from fuse under the hood
solid black - chassis ground.
Let me know what year your car is as different years sometimes use different wire colors and even different circuitry.
On the pioneer unit, I don't want to tackle that right now. Using it is not you main goal right now. I like to do one problem at a time.
