Stock Intake 03 i35

Hey Guys,

2003 i35, when I got it, I was always missing the front half of my air intake. The part that connects from the airbox, to above the radiator. I was able to find the part at the junkyard, however someone removed the part of the airbox that it connects too, but it otherwise looks exactly the same, from what I've gathered from pictures. When I went to put it on, it was actually a bit too big. Any change anyone knows if there is some type of gasket, or was I supposed to use any type of sealant on that part? I did notice that on both, the the airbox, and tube, there seemed to be a bit of something that looked like tape residue, but no one at autozone, or advance had any idea what I could be looking for. Hopefully one of you guys can help me out.

Thanks,

Hey there. The snorkel bit is actually just supposed to fit loosely over the airbox opening, its not supposed to be an airtight seal. it just sort of redirects air into the airbox when your driving. in otherwords, you don't need any type of sealant.

Yep. This is what I noticed as well when changing the radiator recently.
