I35 won’t start
I sold my beloved 1998 infiniti i30T 2 days ago that I’ve had for almost 20 years!!! The same day I bought a 2002 i35 with 158k miles but it won’t start. I turn the key it’s almost like it doesn’t have compression but I got it started for like 10 seconds and it died. Im worried it’s the timing chain but I thought Infiniti’s timing chains were rock solid? I don’t hear any chain slap or anything like that. The car is overall in great condition. The guy I bought it from said about 6 months ago he drove it home no issues and went to get in it and it wouldn’t start. He gave me the brand new alternator to go with it I only paid $800 for this car. It has no check engine codes. The oil looks good. The transmission fluid looks good and the coolant looks good. The key and the fob are kinda busted up as well. Maybe a security issue? I need your help guys

I have a 2003 I35 with 185,000 miles. I bought it from a family in 2006. The car only had 15,000 miles on it because it was driven by a grandmother. My dream find.
After so many years of faithful service, I have learned that a common cause for no starts is a faulty Crankshaft sensor and or Camshaft sensor. I would look there first. Just buy cheap ones off Amazon because they are easy to replace. If you can change a light bulb, you can change these sensors.
Do a search on YouTube for sensors on a Nissan Maxima. Maximas and I35 share the same engine parts but there are way more maximas sold. Therefore, more information on line. Good luck!

Pay attention to the red security light when you are starting the car, if the light remains on while cranking the NATS system might be malfunctioning and preventing the car from starting.
