2001 I30 Strange MAF issue
Hi guys, recently started having a very confusing issue with my i30. A few days ago I come out to start my car in the morning. It fires up then instantly stalls with a service engine light. I’m able to get it started with a little bit of throttle added while cranking. After starting it and letting it warm up for a while everything seems fine so I drive to work.
On my drive my RPM gauge seemingly burnt out and dropped, and was met with an electrical burning smell as well as a service engine light. I got it scanned after work and was given a MAF sensor code, so I replaced the old sensor but that made no changes.
Im able to start the car with a little gas added, and once it’s warmed up it’ll run with no issues, and crank with no issues. I’ve inspected the entire intake system for leaks and found nothing. Air filter is almost brand new, and MAF sensor is brand new. Im stumped about the rpm gauge suddenly dying, not sure if it’s related or an entirely separate issue. I’ve checked all fuses on the car and they’re intact.
Any tips would be appreciated!

Had a similar issue with 97 SE, fixed it by adding additional ground wire to the MAS sensor. Finally fixed stalling issue by grounding MAF sensor - Maxima Forums
