Breaking up

Not much of a tech guy so this could very well already been talked about but personally couldn’t find a fix to my issue. The max is having issues and we all know that’s unacceptable. When cold the car runs great.. fighting for traction even in third. But when warmed up and got a couple pulls in her she’s breaking up a bunch. Cruising is sometimes ok but as soon as I get a quarter to half throttle is jumps and breaks up till I let off and try again. Maf replaced several times along with both crank and cam sensors multiple times simply cause I once in a while get a code for a cam sensor. All plugs and packs are recent also. The issue is still present. Multiple misfire code I get regularly made me think to do compression checks and so forth, issues still there. Completely stock car. Personally I’m thinking a throttle position sensor or something of that nature but instead of dumping more money into something that might also not work thought I should ask you guys. These cars are great when they are great but need much love as we all have probably found out.

first thing, I would make sure that no oil is getting into the spark plug tubes or cam position sensor connectors.

what brand MAF sensor did you get? I saw a night and day different when going from a new Duralast MAF to a salvaged OEM MAF. engine had smoother and more stable idle along with more power. ...

when my 2002 had the same issue you're describing, new coil connectors solved the problem...

If you have access to a scanner with live data, I think that's going to be the place to start and look at readings while cold and while hot to see if anything is up. Otherwise there's dozens of parts darts that issue can be

Multiple misfire typically means bad coilpacks or bad injector(s). Did you replace your coilpacks with OEM or knockoffs?

yeahp OEM could be the difference with coils, cam sensors, and MAF, bascially anything important on these cars electronically don't bode well with aftermarket. even EVAP.

I've used aftermarket coils and cam sensors with good results, with the exception of brandless cheap eBay coils that start to fail after a year.. I've had good luck with Ultra-Power coils from Rockauto.

I highly recommend using OEM Hitachi MAF sensor though, the salvaged one I got from eBay works way better than the Duralast one I had. smoother and more stable idle as well as engine response and better power output...
